'06 Expedition 4 pin to 6 pin connector
Well I did it again. I truly disliked my 03 Chevy Trailblazer, so I traded it on an 06 Expedition 5.4 V8.
This one has the brake controller connector under the dash-- thats good.
But it has a 4 pin at the back. I need a 6 pin to connect to my 66 Overlander.
I see the 4 wires connected to the current plug and what looks like an extra wire taped off.. Would that be the other wire I need to connect? Its the blue one in the photo.
Guessing I only use 5 wires on the 6 pin .. thanks all

In general the blue wire is the one which goes to the brake controller and should appear under the dash so it can be connected to the brake controller itself.
The last wire you need is the + 12 volts for the charge from the towing vehicle to the Airstream. So you will use 6 of the 7 pins on the typical cord. Usually the center large round pin is unused.
Brake/signal left
Brake/signal right
running lights
electric brakes
+ 12 volts
- 12 volts (ground)

Here is the "trailer exterior lights" wire color and position from my 66 Trade Wind manual. I forgot my Trade Wind has back up lights, so I needed a seventh wire.
The information should help you convert your Expedition from 4 pin to "seven pin" trailer connector.
Maybe this diagram will assist with the pin locations in our Airstream pigtail. The wire colors Airstream used in 66 aren't the same as used in newer trailers.

Hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like your arrow goes to an inline fuse, if this is the case my guess is that would be a wire from your alternator to charge your coach batteries.
Not a wiring expert but been through this more times than I care to think about.

On our TVs we have found the 'modular' kit for plugging directly into OEM works very well. That way you don't have to wire/solder.. just remove existing and plug in the new..

You might also need to install a relay in the relay/fuse box, check and make sure it has the relay for trailer power. Your Expedition doesn't have the full towing package, so it's not included. We had to add this relay when I added the 6 pin to our Expedition.

Since I don't carry a trailer battery I probably don't need that relay. Just lights and brakes for us.

So you don't have a breakaway switch for your brakes? (That wouldn't necessarily require the charging relay, but it WOULD need a battery to work.)

This is for commercial trailers..those that carry and deliver.
But...
we are getting way off topic here.

Once again Etrailer came through for me. They sent me the adapter and specific directions for which wires to splice on my 2006 Expy. Nice service.

You better check on breakaway brakes, they lock up when the trailer becomes disconnected from the tow vehicle, and this does not apply to only commercial vehicles, as all car trailers and travel trailers have them from the factory.. Bad news if trailer becomes disconnected and hits someone and doesn't have the breakaway brakes ...
