Bought my 67 Caravel 1.3 miles from home. I could not be happier!

condensed version of Henri's story

We looked (well, -I- looked) for over a year, and when I finally saw the one I knew was for us, I immediately called the owner, and we drove down to see it the next day. A four-hour drive, as it turned out. The owner (who was the son of the original purchaser) was a local minister, as it turned out.

It was sitting in a small family-owned camp on a beautiful little lake, so we also found a great place to keep it in and use it as a holiday cottage to this day.

This gave me time to figure out exactly what I was going to do to get it roadworthy, since the trailer hadn't been moved in over ten years, and yet we could use it and enjoy it along with our family.

The fall after we bought it we took it on a meandering trip to Florida, and put about 4,000 miles on it. Great fun!

Sight Unseen and 2200 miles from home..

Bought ours from couple in Ft. Worth Texas sight unseen in 2003.. Threw clothes and tools and cooler and hitch parts in Suburban and drove to check it out/haul it home to Calif over 5 day trip...

Wouldn't recommend similar practice for everyone, but it can be done with some precautions and safeguards. Our experience worked out well, and no regrets. Refurbished the interior and have towed more than 10K miles, though not much use past two years, and hoping to make up for it this year...

In Theory, there's no difference between Theory and Practice, but in Practice, there is usually a difference...

We bought our 68 Overlander off Craigslist when gas hit $4 gallon in 08. Towed it home with the motorhome and sold the motorhome. Now a work in progress, and no regrets!

Ours was on Craig's List. We called and discovered it was located an hour from our house in Dallas Fair Park (Texas state fair grounds), being used by a film production co. Saw it and bought it then and there! We have no regrets; it's great!

We bought Belle from a super nice couple who lovingly took special care with her, found her right here on the classifieds, I had looked everyday for 2 years, the ad went up and we drove to Kansas City on Thanksgiving! We have had smiles on our faces ever since and thank our lucky stars to have found her (we think she's happy to have found us too)!
Happy Trails!

enid, OK. She was as vintage as one can be except for the missing beautiful green and gold shag carpet.

Live in Fla- bought from the classifieds here from a very nice lady in Pennsylvania. So our shakedown cruise was the trip back. We made the deal in Jan and didn't pick her up until end of March- we didn't think it would ever stop snowing up there! Had to grab our first window between snow storms and floods. She is home in Fla and couldn't be happier.

Craigslist, responded to the ad within 30 minutes, locked in a viewing for the next morning, bought her on the spot. Karma, REALLY good Karma!

The Argosy was found about 30 minutes away and the Sovereign was only 2 miles from here...

Searched for 3.5 years for our A/S from the West coast to the East coast and everywhere in between. Everytime I would call home from a business trip back east, my wife would ask "Did you find one yet? I can be there in three days with the truck to pull her home!" We finaly found our A/S through the Forum's Classified Adds about a 10-15 miles north of us in Malibu. Took one look and fell in love! We finalized the deal on the spot and took her to her home.
