This is my 500th post, and now I should be a Rivet Master.. a MUCH coveted title, even if it should be "Rivet Mistress." I thank you all for helping me in MANY cases, and "putting up" with me in others!

What do YOU do for work?
Is there a common thread between us, aside from being attracted to big shiny things??
Gary is a retired Construction Road Laborer and I am a retired Activity Director in Long Term Care , now we own our own business, an antique shop in Rockford, (northern) Illinois. (90 miles west of Chicago)
I work on fiber optic transmission equipment for a "major media concern back east". They do not like us using their name. Weird, huh? Lots of fun. Lots of laughs.

Which we run out of our home, selling sci-fi tv and movie toys. I am currently checking out the forum just to take a break from processing the 300 cases of toys we received today in preparation for the opening of Star Wars Episode 3!
We've been doing this for ten years, though I was only able to leave my software design/programming job a couple years ago to work at the business full time. It's not making us rich, but it gives us free time to live, which the software jobs did not. Now I can't imagine working for someone else 8 hrs a day plus commuting time. I hope I never have to go back.
So if anyone needs any Star Wars toys, come help us out
Congratulations, Kid! 500 is an awful lot of posts....

Welcome to the 500 club!! For the past 15 months, I have been the Campus Director for a post-secondary educational institution that offers degrees in Visual Communication, PC/Networking, Game Design and Interior Design. We are a branch campus of our main campus in Tempe. I've held a number of positions within this college since joining the team in 1996.
I agree, aluminum is more fun. Think I'll retire early.
I am self employed in the music industry. My company imports high end musical instruments from small specialty shops around the world ( mostly old world Europe) and distributes them to better music stores, and some collectors around the country. We also offer studio and tour support for major label rock bands that tour regularly. Our specialty are electric guitars, electric bass guitars, tube amplification for guitars, and bass amplifiers. My motto: If it's too loud, then I'm getting too old for it...
My office/warehouse is located in Orange CA.
My wife works as a corporate purchasing specialist at a large electronics manufacturer's headquarters in Irvine, CA.
I'm a Power Systems Communications Craftsman II. I maintain and install High density Microwave radio systems, Lightwave communications systems, Supervisory Control and Data Aqusition Systems.

Basically I work in electronics for Uncle Sugar.
I also own and operate a Sound company with Janet. Never a boreing moment.
Congratulations on reaching 500! Someday I hope to follow in your footsteps.
From reading all of the previous posts, it seems that there is a myriad of occupations here. That is good because diversity makes it all so interesting.
I am a "UAW Training Technologist". I teach industrial automation and electronics controls to Skilled Trades Electricians for General Motors. Anything that goes on or into your car or truck is made by something that I have taught on how to install it. repair it or replace it.
I also have a strange habit of doing hexadecimal math in my head. It scares my boss when I do it!
The wife is a former database manager for GM. She has been a stay-at-home mom ever since our first daughter, (we have two now), was born over five years ago.
My job rocks, but my Minuet rocks more!
