"Semi-Retired" but according to my CPA, the IRS doesn't consider me as such. My spouse of 39 years at times considers me "Semi-Retarded"

Retired RN now teaching art to adult developmentally disabled. I paint with acrylics some watercolor and like to do mixed media art. I also make big baskets out of kudzu and other vines. The past 4 months have been working on our 65 AS and hope to have our maiden voyage to Merle Fest on the 23rd. Married to a retired CPA for 6 years. We have 5 adult children and 6 grands. Life is good!

I'm now presumably retired. Since March 1st. And the work hasn't changed one little bit. What's wrong with this picture?

Thanks for serving our country as a firefighter. BTW, since my last post on this thread, just below yours, my wife and I purchased a 2005 28' CCD and are leaving tomorrow on a six week trip to Austin, TX and Sante Fe, NM. I hope it goes ok.

We are both retired (25 years) State of Illinois child welfare workers---Doug from child protection, Maggie from casework. Glad to be living the good life of retirement and travel at this time.

Former buckaroo (Nevada Cowboy) then Heavy Equipment operator in gold mines, on to IT related work; Network tech, specialist, manager, administrator, systems analyst, forensics, security, tech support, web developer, consultant, ISP owner, wireless provider.

Currently independent contractor administering a virtual network for an ISP. My Airstream MH is my home and office.

There are quite a number of other computer related endeavors I have indulged in on the side, some profitable, some not so...

I guess you could call me a console cowboy.

I'm also an artist (all mediums), photographer (sensual/erotic/portrait) graphic artist, writer (poetry, fiction) and musician (piano, guitar, harmonica, Native American flute, Native American Drums).

For 14 years I have worked for an HVAC filter company- first as a service technician and then as the DOT compliance man.
I was a correctional officer for 3 years before that- terrible.
I worked at a grocery store chain for 11 years before that.
Sprinkle in a bunch of part time jobs and home based businesses in between.
Anywhere from 50 hours a week (now) to 120 hours a week for many, many years.
This trailer was earned the hard way- by the sweat of my brow- literally.

I work for a major US financial institution. In the words of my boss, "I don't care if you work remotely from the moon; as long as you get your job done, feel free to work wherever and however you see best fit."

The goal is 4 days on, 4 days off, 4 days on, 2 days off -- repeat whilst I snowbird (eventually.)

My husband is a retired substation operator (twice) and I am an LVT ( licensed vet tech), mostly retired. We also had our own business with angora goats, spinning wheels, fiber, yarn, crafts, etc. All this while we worked full time. Now we just have some beef cattle.

I am the creative partner in a marketing agency that specializes in food marketing. My wife is a risk manager for one of Canada's largest industrial insurance brokers, specializing in mining and power. Occasionally, she gets to wear groovy protection suits and walk around power stations and mines with a group of men who are very afraid of her and her eagle eyes.
