I am a retired Project Test engineer for Dept of Navy. I returned to work for the Navy as support contractor, still working with project testing on Navy aircraft. Wife is retired Postmaster.

Question 10xblessd

Well, I don't know if this is a record or not, but my husband grew up in an Airstreaming family with TEN kids. They even roadtripped to AK (from MN) one summer with their Airstream and all ten of the kids. I think I would have needed some serious valium to get through that

And just to make sure this post is pertinent, my FIL owned his own candy and tobacco distribution company, and my MIL (a teacher by trade) was a stay-at-home mother.

Oh, and while we are talking about VW bugs, I just have to mention that one of my great-aunts and her husband roadtripped from Michigan to Florida one summer with their FIVE kids packed into that beetle That was long before the days of interstate and air conditioning, too! It's amazing what people will do for vacations <g>

Do what I love and love what I do

I'm Park & Recreation Superintendent: Landscape Designer, Urban Forester, and Certifed Arborist for a small suburb of STL area. Basically, I oversee all the "green" stuff in our City.

Laura is a Stay-at-Home-Mom (she's usually not there though???) and Parent Educator w/ Parent's As Teachers

Jessi's busy keeping on straight A's as a third grader and a voracious reader.

Jake is great at being a four year old BOY!

Post Retired

I am twice retired.... 24 years in the Navy, (Naval Aviation/Undewrsea Surveillance) followed by 14 years with SAIC doing Systems Engineering on underwater acoustic projects for the USN and United Nations. Wife still works for County Health Department (Immunization Programs). 30 years of tent camping followed by 6 years in a 16' Aerolite trailer has lead us to Airstream. We have a 2005 16' Bambi which is just right for us.

ACK! another music major......

again, I find it an interesting mix of talents, (and a recurring theme), that seem to be drawn to these silver beauties. musicians, architects and design professionals (that link is obvious), engineers, pilots, computer people....why are these interests all linked?

welcome to the group!

-Chuck
(BM, Music performance, Saxophone....but I run a computer network for an architectural/graphic design firm. and I'm a pilot. go figure... )

"outlier"

1.Geol rock.. formation an outcrop of rock that is separated from a main formation
2. outlying part of something...a separate part of a system, organization, or body that is at some distance from the main part
3.Somebody living at a distance from work..somebody who lives a long distance from his or her work

Encarta Unabridged Dictionary

So are you implying I have rocks (probably in my head), or I'm a separate part of the system?

can't be number 3, I work three blocks from home.

#2. In statistics, the outlier is that extraordinary individual that doesn't fit the mold, that follows their own course, the one that shines like a ruby in a bucket full of stones. (Maybe the stone thing is kinda like def #1)

In my experience, "music majors" are good at math...but they THINK that they're not.

perhaps 'tis the same w/ the Flamingo kid.

I own a retail store called Dirty Dog Gone that sells all natural dog and cat food. We also have a self-service dog wash, a full service dog groomer. Our sons Matt and Spencer own All American Feed that sells all natural farm animal feed. My wife Debbie works for the local school district as a reading specialist. I owned a mobile tool truck for 10 years selling SK Hand Tools. I was a Parts Manager in heavy equipment for 10 years. I have had a lot of RV's in 30 years, but never enjoyed one more than our Airstream Trailer.

Music major math:

1 + 1 = a new CCD
1 + 2 = a new CCD
1 + 3 = a new CCD
1 + 4 = a new CCD

Works for me!

Maybe all of the non-mathy Airstream lovers. the "outliers. . .the rubies in the bucket of stones. . ." need to unite to form our own AS club within the big owners group, separate from the WBCCI, the VAC, the Singles, . . .a special club just for the uniqueness of US! What would we call us? I like the new word, the "OAS" -- Outliers Airstream Club, oops, I used the A-word! Shhh. . . .
