My full time job is as a web developer but in my spare time (and in my heart) I'm a potter.
I'm just trying to figure out how I can travel in the AS and make pots and fire them on the road when I finally retire!

I asked Debbie if she had posted a reply to this thread and she couldn't remember . So.....we are both Firefighters for the County of Los Angeles. I've been at it for 30 years and Deb for 19. She spent 10 years as an RN before coming to the FD. We were lucky enough to be promoted to Battalion Chief on the same day, two and a half years ago. About 16 months to go, and we'll be Airstreamin' whenever we want!! We love our jobs, but we love our time off even more

Ankornuta - Don't believe that's Bob's work in Scottsdale, but some of his pieces are available at El Prado Gallery in Sedona. Other turners use a similar inlay technique, but Bob is the only one that uses lots of color and gold or metallic leaf. Sometimes the fill covers more area than the wood.

Riverstreet - To become a road potter you might consider specializing in really small pots or jewelry. We had a friend that used a little electric kiln about 14 inches square to fire beads in her city apartment. (Like your choice of Airstream.)

My hardest work, now that I'm retired, is keeping out of my wife's way!

My career has changed slightly since I posted, I am now working for a friend, repairing vehicles that are nearly as old as I am. I think the only reason I am doing it, is because I am the only one at the shop older than the cars...Don't know what they'll do when I retire.

head techno-geek

It would seem that there are quite a few folks here that are directly or indirectly imvolved with various forms of computer fun. I'm the CIO for a high school district in Tempe Arizona and my wife is a Kindergarten teacher at a local Catholic grade school. My first superintendent could not remember my title so he would defer to me as the "head techno-geek" which I prefer. My connection to computers began in 1976 with making computers. My first production computer was a DEC PDP-8. Life comes at you fast....
My Argosy, being of the same vintage as my first computer, raises my engineering fancy.

I'm an RN, and my husband is a Gen. Contractor. Good thing he loves what he does since I beat him to retirement, and gee someone has to pay for the treatments for the terminal aluminitis we've both come down with!

I agree. IMO vintage is better, but there is always plenty to do.

My wife and I are currently both self-employed.

Cathy for 25 years has been a Professional Guardian and Conservator...court appointed to help take care of individuals who cannot manage their lives and/or money.

I am currently a "troubled" company consultant...in my fourth year as a freelancer. My 8-5 prior life was CPA/CFO/CEO of a number of private and publically owned companies...kind of prepared me for my current career as a "advisor" or "temporary" CEO or CFO and advisor. Hopefully I can stay as busy as I want/need as I enjoy what I do.

We both turn 60 in 2007 and are starting to think about our next stage of life...Tom R in Two Harbors, Minnesota (and Eden Prairie )

Ahh I'm beginning to see a pattern...We'll both also celebrate our 60th birthdays (as well as our 30th anniv.) this summer too. Nice for us all to recognize a great way to enjoy our ongoing journeys!
