Maybe we didn't know there was a 6Σ with a sense of humor.

Time for an update..

Since last post 15 months ago, things have changed..

Retired from High Tech Silicon Valley Company as VP of Contracts in February, and established consulting practice as negotiator and negotiation trainer/coach... Chairing Credit Union Supervisory Committee for pro-bono work, and practicing spending less. Doing development work for training company to customize materials for their clients, and taking on other projects through a pair of professional organizations that look fun. Looking to expand writing career from few articles in Airstream Life to other publications, and preparing to join migration north to Salem for first large-scale WBCCI event. Still a pilot and plane owner...

Been a while...

WOW! I just read my own post #15 in this thread...

How quickly things change...semi-retirement was fun while it lasted, but the pendulum swings! I'm back at it "full-time plus". Now I head up the Interior Design Department at the same architectural firm...working 45-50 hours a week. Not as much time for as many long 'streamin trips this year, but who knows what the future will hold!

Working for yourself is a mixed blessing, as I know all too well. I'd like to go back to taking a regular paycheck, but then I like the freedom to occasionally run away and travel. Of course we don't have much money for travelling, since we work for ourselves, and there's no one to cover for us when we take off a day.

My plans are the essentially same as when I first posted them... retirement within a year or so. After 28+ years with the same agency, with over 22 in law enforcement (and over 16 years as chief), I'm convinced that I can withstand the rigors of wandering aimlessly around in the Airstream without getting too bored. All my friends are betting I'll last less than a year before I take up a second career.
I'll do my best to prove them wrong.

Semi-retired, doing a little consulting and construction management after forty years in the construction industry. My CPA says there's no such thing as semi-retired and once I retire full time (in the next few months) I'll be bored out of my mind. No such luck as I have too many hobbies and now this Airstream thing to keep me busy. Hope to see many of you out there on the road over the next several years. Happy trails

Unbelievable!

I searched this thread and out of 314 posts, not one other person has/had the same job that I do - Its not that uncommon, but quite controversial. Maybe thatís why no-one else has admitted to it!

It is a two-year assignment my corporation. A sink or swim assignment that can take me places or set my career in this company. It will be interesting to see the outcome in 18 months or so.
