I teach Pilates and Yoga for a living, along with occasional tarot reading for those that know I can. I am a writer (currently writing a children's book and a film documentary when inspiration strikes).

I started working for Macy's way back as a window trimmer. I progressed through the years in the display field (now described as Visual Merchandising) to Display Manager up to regional visual manager. I soon got disgusted with the politics of senior management and asked to go into visual production as I have finish carpentry skills. So for the past 20 years I have been building fixtures, display props and designing displays. July 30, 2006 is my 50th year with Macy's. July 31, 2006 I retire and my wife (who I met at Macy's...I do much of my shopping there) wil begin enjoying our just purchased 1966 Tradewind towed with our red 1971 Buick Centurion convertible.

This is my new favorite Thread because:

I am a Headhunter. I own an Executive Search Firm we specialize in management and executive level positions in Medical Manufacturing, Industrial and Electronics. After reading every post, it is clear; this community has more talent and diversity than I've ever seen in one place. The common thread (other than the obvious Airstream connection) is FREEDOM. Freedom to roam the country, freedom from the pressure, freedom from the boss, freedom to do what you want. Working or retired the AS gives you the means to seek knowledge and learn more about family, spouse, kids and you through travel. I've been telling candidates for years, if you wake up in the morning and you aren't excited about what you do CHANGE. Keep this thread going it is very interesting. AZstreamin.

One More Occupation

What an amazing diversity of occupations.
I am a commercial cacti grower. We have a 14 acre succulent nursery in beautiful inland north county, San Diego where we grow over two thousand varieties for the major chain outlets.I just finished my spring seeding after planting over 5 million cactus seeds! This is the only real job I have ever had.It is a constant challenge and an absorbing fascination.I also ride a bike 3 or 4 days a week.

Keeper of the Flame

As in keep the home fires burning. Pop was diabled in 94 and I retired in 96 so we have done a lot of mom can you do me a favor type jobs and traveled in our RV every summer.

Pop was a over the road truckdriver and I worked as a maintenence tech for a large electronics firm reparing and calibrating microscopes and small mfg equipment.

Pop and I ran a small sawmill for several years and I owned a castware ceramic shop for 10 years.

My main job all those years was wife and mother. It has been a fun time and
I am looking forward to lots more traveling in our MH.

Kewl...

Without meaning to brag, which I guess by saying that, I actually AM bragging, this has been MY favorite thread, too, and to think that I started it myself to celebrate my RivetMistress status :-)

We ARE a very interesting bunch of folks!

Mother's Day

Hey, thanks for the Mother's Day wish :-)
If Wally's mother had never had HIM, we wouldn't all be together today!

2Air, have we met before? We'll be seeing you at Moraine soon :-)

jobless

I'm a retired firefighter paramedic. It was a great career while it lasted but a job injury ended my career early.

Nicole and I are both Chiropractors in town, each of us with seperate practices.

We're expecting our first kid in November, we've named it "clump" for now. I'm training for my first Ironman this summer. Come August in Penticton, our CCD will be the Carb Consumption Depot for me, Nic, and 'spokes' our Airedale.

Great thread btw!
brad.

I design custom homes (without wheels) here in Az. My wife has her own business in marketing and sales accessories for large developers and builders...you know those model homes that have the covers over the toilets that say "Please see your sales representative for location of restroom facilities"? Those are probably hers. All those little buttons, tabs and monopoly-looking houses on plat tables may have passed through her office. Doormats, coffee mugs, pens, keychains, I could go on and on, suffice it to say that I call it trinkets and trash...but she's the one that bought the Airstream! Amazing how she could turn lots of plastic pieces into a big aluminum dwelling. Ironically, I specialize in double wall adobe structures with 20" thick exterior walls...they're not going anywhere soon.
