Oh, that's only because the rural types are more than likely more long-term residents of the state while city folks have a greater likelihood of being "from the outside."

Personally, I do say [mizura] (having been born there). I also say [calaraeda] rather than [calarodow], as the newcomers and outsiders say.

Way out west or the left coast many of you who live at the right coast still think we are fighting Indians. When I say I am from Vancouver,Wa people only hear Vancouver thinking we are in Canada. No one can ever say Oregon right it comes out as Oregonee. Yes we do have cities such as Portland, Albany, Salem, Newport, Vancouver, Long Beach, Dallas, Woodland, Detroit, and more.

Congrats

Congrats on the 'Rivet Mistress' even though the 500th was a while ago. I work as a Policeman in Central Oregon, and will likely be doing so for the next 8 years until I can hang up the gunbelt and play with the airstream more .

Hippo, I think I know what you mean.. my son was just hired as the NEW History Teacher for the Oregon State School for the Deaf, and no one around here in these Midwest parts has any idea where Oregon is!

Thank you for the Congrats.. and see my answer to Hippo.... do you suppose you can take your gunbelt and mosey on over to Salem and keep an eye on the School for the Deaf?

The residents there are very quiet, they won't give you much trouble :-)
(Ha, bad joke)

Retired from?

We are both retired bankers. Thank goodness we're both out of that now dreadful business. It's now full of puppets and the holding companies pull the strings. What ever happened to the good old days when you had to think while standing on your own two feet. Anyone out there agree with me?

After 27 years with the same agency, with the last 20+ in law enforcement, I plan on retiring in less than 2 years. There's this thing I need to do...

What a great looking Argosy you have. I too am a Registered Nurse, but won't be able to retire for several years. Poor planning I think. I have a 1978, 24ft Argosy that gives me a lot of pleasure right now. Heck, I just love looking at him sitting out there in the yard. Since it's getting colder, I may have to settle for that until Spring. Have fun in Fla.

Bradjun1 -- I have 45 weeks until I retire and am in fear that I will unravel before then. I commend you both that you can ravel at this stage of your life. Do not go gentle into that long good night!

well short version is for something like 8 years I worked with learning disabled and conduct disorder adolecents in a outdoor setting, and I was a firefighter/EMT for a spell there in the last century.....Then I got the hairbrain idea to go back to school just over seven years ago. In the spring I should emerge with a PhD looking for a job. No telling what I will get myself into next..........
