This was the first place I came for information. I was even posting messages from the dealership while looking at the camper! I appreciate the information. Who better knows about Airstreams than Airstream owners? Naturally there are some "outlying opinions" but regardless, there is a wealth of information on here. I have tried to give back by contributing as I slowly (or in some cases quickly) spend my money accessorizing the camping experience with, replacements, generators, cameras, fans, etc.

The 34' Airstream came first, then the forums, and now the additional Vintage Overlander because of the knowledge found here.

Definitely helped us in our decision

We used the Forum to help us learn about the various models as we began our search.....and we located our trailer in the classified section. So for us, the Forum was an invaluable resource.....and so it remains today. Both of us are constantly checking the Forum for answers to questions regarding our Safari or most importantly....learning from members how they solved issues or problems. My Daddy used to say "if you gotta go through a minefield, follow somebody". Good advice then and still is today. Thanks for leading.

Absolutely!

We knew we loved Airstream but basically had no clue. The forum helped us choose between FC and International, 25 vs 27, FB vs RB, and can we tow with our existing vehicle. We thought we had it all figure out and then we saw the thread on twin vs queen. We had never even considered a twin but once the hubs laid down on the twin bed and discovered he could actually fit, we were sold! I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to all of the members for their unknowing guidance throughout the process!

I bought the trailer first because I wanted an Airstream. I joined Airforums later.

We found the forums after purchasing our little Sport. The site was instrumental in helping with the brake controller and proper tv. Glad that we found the site. We are flying out to see a larger trailer at Colonial this weekend. Will be doing the swap in the next week or so! Very excited

Nope, sorry.

We had already decided to buy an Airstream, selected ours off the dealer's lot and brought it home before looking seriously at the Air Forums. Kinda backwards, I guess! Had we hit the forums first, We might have custom-ordered a trailer to get the 16" wheels, perhaps chosen a different hitch (e.g. pro pride vs. equal-i-zer), and such-like. Still, we're pretty happy with our choice. It tows and camps like a dream.

This also goes for speeding. Always follow half mile behind another speeder aka the rabbit, to bait the wolves. This site is the reason I have an airstream. At my age nothing use to excited me.... until now.

I remember when Andy started this forum. Was on my 3rd AS and had no idea it would be so great. There was a brief forum before that I can't recall but it didn't prosper like this.

I found AF while looking for a vintage AS which helped me decide to buy new instead. I'm amazed when I run into fellow ASers who don't know about AF. I always urge them to become members.

Maybe we could make a decal for our Airstreams that says ''Airforums.com -Where dreams begin'' or ''Travel with Airforums.com''. To get the word out to other ASers.

An old site, in internet terms, indeed.

After my Scotty was wrecked in the UP I bought my first Airstream in 2002.
At the time the only thing that had a modicum of information was the Airstream Web Ring. It was a collection of 20 or so commercial and private sites that were linked together by the NEXT button. I don't recall if the Forum was on the ring or not.
I agree that no one could have predicted the growth of the Forum, the increase in popularity of an archaic silver travel trailer or the wealth of information stored here on line.

Thanks to all who have contributed over the years,
Tom
