We always have Willie along on the road, plus much that XM provides--50.s-70's, easy listening, jazz, some alternative, some classic. We listen to many kinds of music, but we don't tune in today's pop music, rap, and loud rude stuff. My grandsons put up with me, but I'm always trying to expand their interests too. ~G Yeh, and the Beach Boys too! We agree.

Our kids still fondly remember how during the '80s as I started up our van and popup in tow for a trip I would push in a casset of 'Journey'. We all still like them and I still have that old casset. Today, Lynn, and I listen to a CD collection of oldies of '50s and '60s. The '50s is my era and the '60s is Lynn's. I like Jazz (all kinds) but do not play much as Lynn doesn't care that much for it unless it is Kenny G. I hide the John Tesh CD before we leave for a trip.

I have just been working on loading my CD changer cartridge for my first camping expedition of the season to the Midwest Forums Rally at Moraine View State Park in Leroy, IL. I generally select six CDs by different artists, and this time, my selections include:
Nuclear Whales Saxophone Orchestra -- this is an amazing group that features instrumentals with multiple saxophone voices with the smallest to one of the largest saxophones in existence -- a 6' 8" Contra Bass. They put on a wonderful stage show at their concerts as well -- I have had the opportunity to be in the audience for two of their conterts. Their website is: Meet the Nuclear Whales Saxophone Orchestra!
Paul Revere and His Raiders -- this was the featured band on one of the first 45-RPM records that my father gave me in the early 1960s. The CD that I chose features my two favorites -- Me and My SS 396, and Corvair Baby. Their website is: Enter Test
Bachman Turner Overdrive -- one of the first groups that I heard in concert, I still enjoy some of the same songs that they performed at that concert including: Takin Care of Business, Four Wheel Drive, and Roll on Down the Highway. Their website is: BTOROCKS.COM
America -- a group that I first heard while waiting for a drive in movie to begin, I still enjoy their music. The CD that I selected features A Horse with No Name, Ventura Highway, and Muskrat Love.
The Andrews Sisters -- I first began enjoying this group while preparing a "return to the 1940s" cultural experience for one of my high school classes. The CD that I chose includes Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree, Shoo -- Shoo Baby, and Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive. Their website is: The Andrews Sisters :: Official Web Site
Jan and Dean -- I first enjoyed one of their concerts at the DuQuoin State Fair in the late 1970s, and continue to enjoy their music. The disc that I chose includes Little Old Lady from Pasadena, Surf City, and Deadmans Curve. Their website is: http://www.jananddean.com/##
I suspect that friends wonder about my eclectic taste in music particularly when my CD player is set for shuffle.

We listen to pretty much everything that was done prior to rap. CountryWestern, RocknRoll, Classic, Folk - if we can sing to it we end up playing it. More often though we find that we enjoy just the sounds of travelling with no music. We find we talk more about simple things and after soon to be 38 years of marriage (a couple of weeks off) and add to that a couple of years of dating while in High School, and we still just enjoy chatting. Egad - we are getting old.
And of course more recently with my wife doing more if not most of the driving, there's the sound of my providing coaching , the sound of silence (not the kind of silence one would want from the love of your life), and then the sound of me trying to, ummmm, let's say creatively apologize for aforementioned coaching - until I do it again. Then the radio comes back on and it really doesn't matter what's playing as long as she can't hear my gasps of fear, . (OK, so I'm a slow learner)
