A savings of 10% I'll go out of my way for. It isn't cost-effective otherwise. Now, if I was retired . . . .

So far as I can tell, no one wants to:

slow down
quit driving around on their off time

or,

just go home. Your lawn needs mowing and some books need reading.

I use the Costco American Express True Rewards Card.
Business Members save 5% on all fuel purchases (Costco or not as long as the station accepts American Express); limit of 75 gallons per purchase; not valid at supermarkets or warehouse stores (except Costco, of course!). Rebate check is issued once per year.

I believe that non-business cards give a 3% rebate. You need to be sure that it is a True Rewards Card that you are using.

Here in Northern California- Raley's supermarkets offers 10 cents off per gallon of gas for $50 spent in the supermarket, 25 cents for $100 of groceries, 50 gallon limit, so I saved about $11 when I filled up the burb last time around.Yup they have their own gas stations at some of the markets.
Eat here and get gas!

Like others, I haven't used a gas specific credit card in something like 15 years! Where we live there are no rebates, deals, or anything of the sort... just money hungry folks wanting to get the most of the poor folks driving the Interstate... with that said, we drive 30 miles across the border into Oregon. No sales tax. Our fuel is anywhere from .30 to .60 a gallon cheaper there. Pays to go and come back! In addition we use our AX Rewards card almost exclusively for every purchase from food to fuel to whatever... Usually don't see savings in fuel directly, but used rewards to purchase about 75% of our Christmas gifts for family last year. So the "Christmas fund" can be a traveling fund...

Hi, I also use the AAA Visa card and I believe that it gives me 5% back on the next billing statement; Although I don't count the pennies, I just look to see that I got something back. Also it used to be, and may still be, you had a limit of 60 gallons per day so if I tanked up more than two vehicles on the same day and went over my limit there would be no discount for any amount over the 60 gallon limit. Or, on a long fast trip, I could only tank up my tow vehicle twice a day. [24 hour period]

Hi, after a little more thought, [you know how it is when you get old] I believe the daily limit was $60.00 per day. [not 60 gallons] Therefore, I recollect, I was only able to fill one tank per day to reach my rebate limit. Still better than a stick in your eye!

Gas rebates and savings

I use a .357 at the register. I am getting great rebates-- usually what is in the register. But the fast get aways are eating up the rebates and I find I can never go back to the same station again.
Sorry couldn't resist, my mind segued from being ripped off by the gas companies to getting revenge. I DO NOT Recommend this action to anyone. I am just joking here!
