Gee, ya know: I never considered Tin Hut & his lovely significant other to be poster candidates for the Olde Farts club, what with a trailer full of love and all.

OH yea: I would renew.

What I think we have here are members of the CAVE club or Citizens Against Virtually Everything club.

I know there have been quite a few repetitive posts but all contained in a few specifically titled threads for those that care to talk about the name change.

Call it commiserating or debating it is an open discussion and as such I think it has merit. Those that have no concern to join the discussion are free to avoid the thread entirely. There obviously is interest by many posters and the thread is designed to serve them.

I think meatloaf recipes, etc., and appeals to get along and criticisms against debate by those not interested or frustrated by these few threads would better have their observations received in still other specifically titled threads.

If the process of adding "Airstream" to the WBCCI is anything like the Airstreamforum decal negotiations, it will be a long time before that highly protected monicer appears on any club letterheads.

Yes, I will renew under any banner.

Airstream has long been on the letterheads at International, Region, and unit level. Airstream is also on every WBCCI website that I have ever visited including the two websites that I administer.

The following text was copied directly from the WBCCI home page.

Why do you think this needs to be an us versus them kinda thing?

I think if you look at the poll for this thread you will find that the people that voted don't care about the name of the club, people will stay involved. And my guess would be they would stay involved because any club is a people thing. Not a name thing. So no matter what the name there will be people involved.

I may have missed it some where, where did the $21,000 figure come from?

WBCCI came from Airstream the company. So I am not sure that Airstream is going to really care much about the name of the traveling club. They may get excited if WBCCI (or what ever name it becomes) sells items in large quantities for big $. Because for Airstream it's all about the money. That's what this forum got tangled with Airstream about. Not the name. If this forum was going to sell (anything) with the Airstream name for profit, Airstream the company wants a piece (or all) of that. Same for the club. Unless I am mistaken there is not big $ for Airstream to have in this club.

I guess the next logical poll would be ...... does the name really mean that much? However the poll really needs to be done with WBCCI members. Because this forum is not WBCCI. But that would be done on a club level.

Big kiss off is.....

65GT et al -

Get ready, because the "big kiss off" (of your hiney or whatever else) is coming....

As the airlines like to say (I paraphrase!), 'bend over and kiss your hiney goodbye!' Objects may be closer than they appear!

Its been fun

Renew in WBCCI

I will be renewing my Unit membership for the foreseeable future since I splurged on a Lifetime WBCCI Membership prior to the most recent dues increase. It was with great heistancy that I made that decision as I am not in favor of the name change, and feel that it could have a number of negative impacts on the club that I have enjoyed for the past ten years (I was 36 when I joined). I am hoping for the best, but am just a little pessimistic about what the future may hold for the club.

Shari,
You show multitudinal bursts of brilliance!
My only thought is, gosh, do we really need something to complain about? This forum, just like the WBCCI, exists soley because we and they enjoy gathering around our units, traveling together, working at many different things together, and least we forget, almost always eating together while we are gathered. What the heck is the controversy about anyway? It's just a medium-just like this forum!

Good point. My trailer is a " newby " and I voted for the change, but if I owned vintage, I would definately want to keep the original name.
The WBCCI is already divided really; ie Vintage within the mother club. Why can't Vintage retain WBCCI within the New Name organization, or maybe New Name needs to form a new organization and leave the Wally Club to the " old farts"? As, has been pointed out, it is'nt just the name we're chafing under. It's the whole foofraw org. structure. You're all correct; The name change alone is'nt going to do much as far as attracting the " newbies ". What to do. What to do!

Just wanting to hang with other streamers & spread the cheer.
Old Fart ( age, not trailer ).
