Raffle for an Airstream?
This is hypothetical at this point.
I am curious how many of you would spend money on a raffle ticket to win an Airstream, lets say you could have your choice between a Caravel or a Safari or an Argosy 20 footer
With part of the benifets going to the local Fire Department.
Would people rather have lower priced tickets with more tickets being sold or less tickets with a higher price?
Vote and also tell me what you think.
Also tell me if you would buy a ticket for sure if this were to happen.
RichardT of Bat Cave
Thanks

I would think that $25 per ticket woulg yeild the best results. You could also offer 5 tickets for $100.

RichardT, I like the idea, and I really like azflycaster's 5 for $100. I think people would jump all over that one. ~G (And you know I want one of those little vintage trailers!)

I'd buy.
$1 a ticket means wayyyyyyyyy too many tickets.
$100 a ticket is a hard sell.
$25 a ticket is just about right.

For me the answer is maybe. It would depend what the trailer was.
For me to get really excited, it would probably have to come from the 7 or 13 panel endcap era (i.e. 1963 or earlier - well into vintage). A 22-footer would be about perfect, although I would probably consider other lengths, both longer and shorter.
On the other hand, a raffle for a new (or nearly new) 28 or 30 foot Classic might also be tempting.
Two different trailers for two different purposes.
Others opinions will vary, I'm sure.
However, I do agree that $25 would be a good price. Or maybe $10, but certainly not more or less than these values.

The wife and I say $50.00 and sign us up for two tickets.
At this price I would hope to be able to tow it home here to Chicago.
I think that $100 is a little steep for a vintage coach, unless it has had major work done to it. Not a restoration, but a good going over and cleaning. Make sure everything works and new tires. If so I could come up with a C note for a ticket, maybe two.

$25/each or 5/$100, would probably be a good amount to shoot for. Less than that, and you would have to sell too many tickets, more than that, and no one would want to take the chance. It may be a good idea to let the potential ticket purchasers know that there will be, say, 500 tickets total sold, so they can figure their odds. $25/ticket, and selling 10,000 tickets, would not be worth many peoples' perception of "play value" for their money.

Just curious, since your only other post also deals with the raffle you mention above, What are you trying to do if not advertise?

His first post was just a clarification response to speculation originated by InlandRV Andy about the raffle. Now about the second post...it looks to be a *shameless* plug! But many of us have posted *shameless* plugs so I say we go easy on the guy...this time!
P.S.
Will you be advertising your raffle in this forum?

Going with the flow...
Wife says she'd pay $100 in a NYS (and we may for the shamelessly promoted one above ), but I'd agree with the majority that you'd find them easier to sell at $25 a pop.
Higher math to figure it out would (for me) involve how much time and how large a sales force I have, plus how many I need to sell at each price point to achieve the desired endstate. Lots of folks buy tickets as a form of charital (SP?) contribution to causes they believe in, but they need a palatable (read low) price to "donate". Conversely folks who want the prize and are gamblers at heart will spend more without caring about where the money goes...
Sorry so long winded,
Sean

I am also looking into organizing a raffle for an A/S .. I am currently checking with the local shrine club which i am a member of to make sure there are no "conflicts" with us doing something of this size raffle..
IF i decide to take on the challenge of heading this up i will post a link to the advertisement, once i check with a mod to make sure i can do so without offending.
I like the 25 per ticket, 5 tickets for 100 ... thing is, to make it worth while at least 2500 tickets would need to be sold.. IMHO. So lets just toss it here like this.. and see what folks think of this idea:
Brand New 25' Safari FB .. $25.00 per ticket, $100.00 for 5 tickets,
Now Lets say: everyone buys the 5 tickets for 100 deal:
to raise $50,000 (which should buy the camper, i have not fully checked on safari prices).. 2500 tickets would need to be sold... SO.. to make any money out of the deal ther would need to be at least another 500 tickets sold to make a $ 10,000 profit on the fundraiser..
This could be quite time consuming, but with the lower priced ticket, more folks would be apt to buy...
Things that make you go HMMMM

Actually, that question was directed toward RichardT and the $25 raffle he is planning for the firefighters.

One thing leads to another
Now that the genie is out of the bag, I expect Airstream raffles will pop-up all over the place.
But who will pick the winner?

I would do $25 and buy four. We have been looking for a Caravel but can't afford one, but a chance at one for $100 no problem...

I was considering it, but I do not have plans to follow thru with it at this time. I will however give it some more thought.

Advertising for www.airstreamraffle.com on this site if definately a possibility. I would be interested in finding out who to contact and what the rates are! If any one has any information that could help me out with an advertising contact I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your help!
