Don't sweat the small stuff. I call my 36 foot SOB motorhome a camper all the time.

Ok, ok. I can only admit and say this to you guys, but I cringe when people say "are you taking the camper out this weekend" or "camper" in general. Is that snobby and pretentious?? I mean, what other brand do people call it by name? We only call it "the Airstream." I've even grown fond of "trailer." But, "camper"?? Show some respect!

Wrapping up an 11 day trip with my wife and two young boys and happened through a big RV show yesterday and thought I'd be tempted. But, after looking at up to $500k RV's, I came out feeling even more content with my 27FB. I paid for it, I know it's history and it's just so easy. Plus, once you've had and AS, you're so spoiled by the quality.

Enjoying the night with the dripping of rain in Stone Mountain Georgia as we speak.

You guys have a great week and excuse my rambling....but I knew you could feel my pain.
we just call ours "The Tin Tipi"

After 35 plus years of PACKPACKING and hiking; to me "Camping" is going out into the wilderness with a tent and supplies, setting up and enjoying the ambience of the Wilderness.

That's taking a mobile cottage out to an RV settlement to use as a base station, or home away from home.

My Airstream is refered to as 'The Airstream' or RV.
But frequently I have refered to it as "......a 'Tin Can Shed"

We took my wife's sister on a short birdwatching trip on the
Texas gulf coast recently She reported that when she told her girlfriends that she was spending a few days in her sister's trailer. One of her friends ask what kind or trailer. She was promptly told that an Airstream should not be referred to as a Trailer.

WE call our Argosy the "Jelly Bean"! To others we call it the trailer.

Just "trailer" or "Airstream". We are forced to say we are going camping, but camping will always be backpacking/tent camping to us. I only use the term RV with my insurance company because that is how they insure it.

I don't have a SOB camper, I have an Airstream! And, yes it annoys the crap out of me.

I think Camper is a regional colloquialism. Something Like a a car accident in Texas is a "wreck". My cousin in Britain got all wowed when I used their term "caravan" when referring to my AS. I'm sure when I say I'm taking the Airstream ... some people who don't "camp" think I'm being snobbish! I'll have to be careful choosing a name for my Airstream...neighbors will think I've got a girlfriend!

Yep... our Camper. Pronounced Kamper... and say it with a smile, Pilgrim.

I am never offended. I own it, they do not. Is our 'camper' the best on the road... it sure is. If I owned an Oliver... it would be the best on the road. If I owned a pop up camper... it would be the best on the road.

Our friends ask about where we are taking our 'trailer'. I call it a camper.

I look at it this way. I would not know one RV or Camper from another at a distance. When an Airstream is within sight... everyone knows it is a... well, whatever. If I need to fix something on our camper... it is just another piece of 'junk'.

We do say that we are going camping, but we only call our Argosy the "trailer" or the "Argosy". We just registered our Argosy name on airstream dot com. Registered with the name "Argosy" so that we would get the medallion with "Airstream Argosy" engraved. Pretentious? I've worked hard to make my Argosy something that I'm proud of and feel like I can brag on. If that makes me pretentious, oh well.........

Well, not too long ago I went to a church get together. During a mixer activity we sat in a large circle and shared a bit of what we liked to do. I shared that I had an Airstream and liked to travel. Later, when we were getting snacks a couple came up to me and said, "wow, what's it like owning your own plane?" "Where do you fly to?" I laughed and explained it was the name of a brand of trailer.

I started calling it different names depending on who I was talking to. Airstream or trailer on the forum, RV anywhere else- just to simplify the conversation. Other words, even like trailer, outside of a particular context, have too many perceptions, like mobile home, to some, etc. RV COULD mean to some only a class A but people seem to understand it better.

Hi there,
I've been telling folks that I'm buying an Airstream to go full time for a year and see what's out there. Most people feel sorry for me in a "mobile home park after a tornado" kinda way.
They have no idea that Airstream travel trailers I've been looking at are more amazing than most of their houses 😋
I've really been enjoying your forums here.
Looking at 2016 Classic and also the 23D International Serenity. I'm so excited.
