I get by towing a 19' 2005 Bambi (3575 lbs.) with a 4.3 liter V6 Sierra (cap.5100 lbs.). When I mused over the bigger trailers, I realized I couldn't get a new, bigger engine truck AND buy a late model trailer. Slight drop in speed at 8% grades climbing to 5000', but still moving faster than the semis without topping 2500 rpm. In 6 years the trailer will be paid, then I'll join you guys with the bigger engines if gas prices aren't $6 per gallon.

Tow Vehicles

Consumer Reports is a very good resource for evaluating trucks - frequency of repairs, satisfaction & so on. What I find very beneficial is their rating as to resale and frequency of repairs - recalls, etc. They have been right on with every vehicle I've owned - made a believer out of me!

Where'd it go??

I tow with an 06 4x4 F250 Power Stroke Diesel - extended cab. I bought the truck to tow a '05 15k lb, 34 ft fifth wheel. We've traded up to 1978, 7100 lb A/S International Soveriegn. If I couldn't see it in the rear view mirror, I wouldn't know it was there. I get 20 or so on the road, less around town, and since the A/S is just one day old to us, I can't give you an MPG with the A/S.

Ah well, getting there is half the fun.

Suffering from White Knunkle Driving

Hi,

My name is Sal and this is my first time posting. My wife and I have a 2002 34' Slideout. Up until this year we have towed with a 1996 Suburban however it has gotten old and given us too many white knunkle experiences, so we have moved on to a Crew Cab Duallie Truck. I can't tell you how nice it is to drive. Absolutely no awareness of having anything behind you and no affect from semi trucks. For the first time my wife actually agreed that she might be willing to drive. For anyone suffering from the tail wagging the dog, this is an excellent solution.

Regards,

Sal
