My guess is that most are gonna be relatively newer owners

My reasoning is when we have "new toys" we will be more active here than when we're old pros...whaddaya think?

Thumbs up

Shari,

I agree!!! 1st time owners learning everything they/we can!

What I've been enjoying are the little things/tips that everyone shares. Sure better than reinventing the wheel !

Our first Airstream was a 1965 22' Safari whic we owned from August 1980 until August 1988 when we purchased a 1981 31' Excella II which we sold in May 1996. Our current trailer is a 1996 30' Excella 1000 which we ordered in March 96 and took delivery of in April 96. This amounts to 23 years with an Airstream Trailer and during those 23 years we have been to all 48 states.

I bought my first A/S (1972 Safari 21') around Christmas, gave it back to the dealer 3 weeks later and at the same day bought a 1992 Sovereign 21' from a private person. As can be learned from the poll around one third are A/S newcomers, as it is the case with me.

How long have you owned your A/S?

My '64 Overlander is my second travel trailer (first Airstream product) and it has been with me since late in 1995. The aluminum bug hit again this past fall, and I acquired the 1978 Argosy Minuet 6.0 Metre from its original owner. Collectible Airstreams are just as intriguing as collector cars - - jut a bit more difficult to garage.

Wow I thought everybody on the forum had owned their AS for much longer. We got our Bambi 1/17/2003 and took it out 1/18/-1/20/2003. Couldn't take it out last weekend because our 6 mon old Lab was just spayed, and we had to keep her quiet. She gets her stiches out on Thursday evening and we leave on Friday after work. She is the reason we got the AS (so we wouldn't have to leave her when we took weekend and longer trips. I will figure out how to post a picture of my baby Lab & baby AS (19'2" Bambi).

Nope! Got mine 2/17 and have only camped in it in the driveway. It was almost below zero around here.

Soon though....very, very soon!

Eric

We bought our #1 Tradewind 25' 1971 in 1992. 2 or 3 years later, we blew the plumbing (bad winterizing)
Tried to fix it, in a rush, living in center city Philadelphia, the trailer about 25 miles away in storage in New Jersey. No time, always missing some tools,....
Mike drove by an RV dealer, rows upon rows of beautiful brand new white trailers. Sure, they were ready to make a deal if we wanted to buy this "eyesore".

So, we bought our #2: Land Yatch International 29' 1974 around 1994. Now we had to store 2 AS.
We moved to VA, end of 1996, bringing both trailer with us.
A few months ago, we got smart, and realized that the tail sag we had noticed was not normal (not the rear bath fault of course, I know balancing problem )
Having not made up our mind yet/find time,..., about building a house, we have been living in #2 since 1996: 8 months at home, 4 months on the road, each year.
So, we decided it was time to upgrade anyway (difficult to do repairs when living in it).

We just brought home our #3: Excella 32' 1990.
We talked about selling #1 , using #2 as a guest room now. I have the feeling that we are going to stay a 3 Airstreams family for the time being.

If only we had stayed in Philadelphia.... It's getting to be crowed in here.
