They must have snuck in past the border with a flock of Canadian Geese heading south on their winter migration... We'll have to alert Customs Officials to keep a lookout for pink geese.

As we all know, Canadian Geese Migrate from the Canadian nesting grounds to Mexico for the winter; so which border are they crossing in from?

Well - they freely cross the US/Mexican border - I've seen several flocks heading north through New Mexico - but there were funny looking pink birds mixed in with them!

I found and purchased a pair of the D. Featherstone mingos @ Dollar General Sunday here in Alabama. One of two boxes on the shelf.
In Gulf Shores they are in spring & Easter break mode as their "high season" is beginning. It's considered "winter" here before that.

I picked up a couple of boxes at a Dollar General in IL. Not complaining, but just observing and noting that they aren't exactly the same as the original Featherstones...the coloring is a deeper pink and the box graphics are different. They are certainly nicer than any other brand of flamingo I've seen on the market these days.

They are located in the lawn and garden section of the store. In talking with the employees in the IL store, they indicated that the spring stock (i.e., flamingos) is still flocking in so check back!

After taling with the nice folks at the new "Union Products", yes not only did they buy the molds but also the name, the did design a new box and the color may be a bit deeper. Seems that ours may have fadded and/or they are using a better resin than in the flamingos last few years of living up north. Of course it really does not seem fair that those folks who live near General Dollar and Family Dollar stores get to buy new flamingos and those of us here in the New England area are skunked!

Yeah, the color is definitely much deeper. I have an original Union Products set (still in the box, never been removed, stored in a dark closet) which I compared to the Dollar Store set and the Dollar Store set is a much deeper shade of pink.
That's a good thing for us folks that "got-to-have-the-original-Union-Products" flamingos.
We now have a means to differentiate between the two products.

I have a red chicken in the yard, purchased in Santa Fe. She's metal, not plastic. No eggs so far.
She does not travel.

I finally broke open the box of flamingos I purchased from the dollar general and you will never believe what I discovered! The mold they used to create the pink flamingos was the mold that Union Products used for the white "snomingo"! My pink flamingos have "snomingo" stamped on the bottom! Now I'm wondering if these misstamped flamingos are like a mis stamped coin and worth alot of money!

Spotted pink flamingo lights at Big Lots today, also solar lighted color changing flamingo lawn ornaments. And a flamingo that dances and sings, at the same store.
There were some interesting ones in the Town Hardware store in Black Mountain, NC also.

Many thanks to those who mentioned Dollar General as a place to get pink flamingos.
I popped across the border yesterday to do a wee bit of shopping in upper NY State when I spotted a Dollar General. Went in and to my utter delight - there were boxes of beautiful pink flamingos!! At a great price too ($10 per pair).
I declared the nature of my purchases coming back across the border and for a brief moment the Customs Officer actually thought I was bringing real flamingos into Canada...
