Just One.. But he's Cool...

Dianne found this Rasta-Flamingo in local nursery...

Helmet, shades and dreads plus flip-flops... Seems to capture the essence of Airstreaming for us.. Has a way of starting conversations.. He's headed to 29 Palms in 2 weeks...

I have had to put my foot down (sort of) on any more flamingoes. But I have to say, that is about the coolest one yet. I guess we could fit one more. Ron

Good morning all-

Nice to see this thread back up front. Right now we have four Pink Flamingos in the AS. Sandi has her PJ's and the Sheets are on our master bedroom bed right now. We have the Kohls Holiday Flamingo/Airstream coffe cups, artwork and the best, a whole case, yes a case of original Featherstone flamingos in the barn. And to think Sandi really doesn't like them so much!

Significance of Pink Flamingo

We are fairly new to the air stream community. We were given a pink flamingo for Christmas and we were wondering about the connection between the air streams and pink flamingos! Thanks, Laura

Too Many

To be honest, Deb was into pink flamingos before we got the AS. I keep telling her that when I'm dead and gone, the kids in the neighborhood will refer to her as the "crazy old flamingo lady". So here goes:
Flamingo sheets
Flamingo sink stoppers
Short flamingo cocktail glasses
Tall flamingo highball glasses
Stemmed flamingo wine glasses
Flamingo dishes
Small flamingo dressed in golf attire
Neon flamingo for inside the AS
Lighted flamingo for outside the AS
Flamingo towels......all this just in the moho. I keep telling her about gross vehicle weight. We may need a poultry license in some states. Don't get us started on pineapples. All together you can understand why we describe the scene as "delightfully tacky". Ron

Do the pjs count flamingos and airstreams together?
flamingo lights, guard plastic flamingo pair, flamingo windsock, flamingo windchime, shiny flamingo banners (dollar store) for the awning...

Okay, I'll add mine:

Flamingo sheets
Flamingo PJs
Flamingo tacky lights for Awning
"Pinkie & Floyd" (our plastic guard flamingos)
Pinkie Jr & Floyd Jr (the metal guard flamingos)
Wine Glasses with flamingos as stems
Flamingo metal enameled tray
Flamingo Dish Towels
Flamingo Hand Towels
Neon Flamingo
A yard or so of flamingo fabric waiting to made into a quilt
Flamingo bobble head (I think it might have gotten lost in the move...yay!)

Most of this we have not bought...they've been "gifted" to us...oh joy ~

Shari

Long before stricken with aluminitis we totally enjoyed flamingo-themed Maggie's of Bayfield, WI. I believe the flamingo die was cast. Bayfield is way cool for camping, northwoods, the Apostle Islands Nat'l Lakeshore, sea kayaking, sailing ... kinda like Door County but with a fraction of the people!

Gone But Not Forgotten (sniff)

It's been a few weeks ago now, maybe Oct/Nov., I read that the original pink flamingo factory has (sniff sniff) gone ... out ... of ... (sniff) business. I'm sure they can still be had but they'll probably not be the same. (sniff)

Suz -- there are several threads to this point. The last production was April or so, with the employees laid off and sale of equipment occurring by mid summer '06.

I was very uspet when I heard about the factory closing. I still do not have flamingos for my Airstream, and my family points them out to me whenever they see a yard flamingo because they know I like them. I really thought I would get a couple for Christmas. I guess I did not hint enough!
