As a Business Major, you and I know that your poll sampling for these questions are statistacally non-scientific, due to the unrestricted opening of voters to all internet users.
This does not mean the result are invalid, it just means that there are no means to prove a valid sampling for the results recorded for each question.
One problem with polls on this forum is you can't change your vote as your status changes.
For example, this poll started 5 years ago and many have changed groups since then. Another example is the one that pops up on the portal page about how old your Airstream is. I answered it when we were in the 0-6 months group.
Even if the forum were upgraded to have this capability, there might be many, if not most voters, who wouldn't go back and update their data. For that reason, polls such as this should have a reasonable window for voting, and close. If the same poll were repeated annually, trends might be observed.
Hello All,
I am 58 and I enjoy 'streaming so much I wish I had discovered it 25 years ago. Hope to make up for lost time in the next few years,
Don Cook
I found the demographic study interesting, but wonder if it might have a flaw in it. I noticed the Airstreamers dropped off from 33% in the 50-59 age group to 13% in the 60-69 age group. I am 65 and very much used to computers and the internet. I wonder how many Airstreamers in the 60-69 age group never answered the poll because they don't even own a computer. It seems to me the 60-69 age group should be as high or even higher than the 50-59 age group because of retirement and they are generally a little more able to afford the expense of RVing. Just a few thoughts for what it's worth.
Does anybody really care, i'm skidding towards the double nickle and the wife is 8 years behind. If you like camping and want the best then you are in an airstream, some of us had to wait longer to get theres. Doesn't mean the younger guys ejoy them less, just get to use them longer. Good for them. Happy trails to all, hope to see some of you in Gatlinbourg first week in Oct.
Hummm... having a dilemma here... Mental age? Emotional age? Physical age? Time of day the question is asked? Who's asking the question and for what reason (& after how many beers)? I mean, there are many variables to consider here for this to be an accurate survey...

So, if I were to ask a person how long they've been Airstreaming, they wouldn't be able to answer me?
Let's difine the comment as the age of the Airstreamers and not the days, weeks, months, or years that they have been enjoying the road. If you go to the Ancient thread you will see the attempt to divide Airstreamers into groups. Makes no sense.
I had to wait until my late 50's to afford my Airstream 1975 25ft.
I was 41 when I bought our Airstream. I think the reason owners tend to be older, rather, more mature, is two fold, #1 when we're younger we tend to do foolish things, ie: buy S.O.B.'s. not thinking in the long term.
#2 Airstreams aren't ususally the cheapest things out there so it tkes a while to build up and save the neccesary money, not easy when you're first starting out in life at the bottom of the work paramid.
