We experienced record rainfalls in the NW in March, and our snowpack is 130% of normal. I thought that might translate to a reasonably high snow pack on the West slope of the Rockies? From "whence cometh" the water for LP in the mountains?
We are still very interested in participating. Zigi....

Mainly the Colorado River. The Green, San Jaun, and San Rafael are also contributaries. When the Colorado is down, Lake Powell and Lake Meade are down.

I can't imagine why not, but I'll let others who are familiar with canoe speed answer that. Ocean kayaks can typically make 4.5 kts with some effort and 3.5 kts easily. The double kayaks are even a bit faster.
But we're not going for speed. For the overnight paddle I'm thinking three hours on the water, then lunch, then two more hours to get to the destination. Should be a moderate day, but you will definitely know you've been paddling. If you're planning two paddlers in the canoe, I would guess you're OK.
I would guess that the group,if large enough, will automatically split into two, one slightly faster than the other. Under no conditions, however, will any single kayak be allowed to fall behind. We will have limited capability for towing, if required, but I would be disappointed if someone started out depending on it.

Dates were selected to fit between Burning Man and the Balloon Fiesta. Maybe I'll do a summer rally next year up in the Sinbad area of Utah, which would end with a kayak trip down the Green River to Moab. We'll see how this one goes, first.
For those who are intersted, here's some data for 25 September for the past few years.
Use this link to see extensive Lake Powell data.

This unofficial meet is still a "go" for 27 September-1 October. Send me a PM if you are seriously interested. If you have questions, post them here in this thread so everyone can see the answers. I'll post an updated list of attendees periodically in this thread.
I hope to have a skin-on-frame kayak as part of my fleet by the time I get to Lake Powell. For those without kayaks who just want to join the group to camp out, I'd be happy for you to try out my Pygmy boats local to the camp site.

Sky, everyone bailed on this, including me (kids in school or something). At the last minute I had a minor family issue, so it was easy to pass this up this year, since it didn't put anyone out but me. I will put this on the schedule again next year--most likely in September, but I am thinking that early May could also be possible (I am avoiding the crowds when school is out--sorry to you folks with kids in school).

A bump to this thread/idea. Any interest in a spring float? Put me down for two, son and I, in a canoe

Can't do it until late September--building a house. It is a huge distraction from 'Streaming and 'Yaking. Z
