Because I just checked the tire pressure, checked the lug nut torque, gave it a complete bath and readied it for an early morning departure. It will be the first tow with my new truck and I am anxious to see how it all works out. Unfortunately, this will be the last trip of the season as winter comes early on this northern piece of the map.

Hummm.

Today's Thursday. That means that I got the Airstream winterized this morning so that the cold doesn't do any damage.

And it means that tomorrow's Friday. That means that I'll go out and try to trace down the friggin' short in the 12 volt system that caused us to abort our only vacation of the year yesterday.

Well, almost. Turns out that the tractor just wasn't going to handle towing the Airstream over the pass to leave Angel Fire, so we used the truck instead. And thank heavens we did! We got a bunch of snow here, and it wouldn't have been too fun to sit on the tractor in that weather! Not to mention that I never did get around to setting up an RV plug on the tractor, so no lights, battery charging, or nuthin'!

It's Thursday and I like my Airstream.

Hi, it's Thursday and I like my Airstream because I was able to find and buy a new rear vent lid and gear assy. to replace the ones that blew appart at the Balloon Fiesta in New Mexico. Also I was able to get a free part for my stove top coffee maker that was found to be defective on it's first use in New Mexico.

Also Thanks for reminding me about winterizing my Airstream. I almost forgot step #2.
Step #1. Park trailer.
Step #2. Charge batteries once a month.

Well, now it's Friday, and the Airstream is in our good graces again: I found the short in the electrical system. And it wasn't the fault of the Airstream. The short came about because I pulled off the cover a couple of months ago to check the gas cock, and when I put the cover back on, I managed to clamp the hot lead wire under the lid. Cute trick, huh?

It's Almost Thursday And I Am Sad

Trailering in the great north east is coming to a close for us fare weather Airstreamers and working stiffs. Tonight I put our '87 on "mothballs" for the winter and we only have one more trip in the '06 over the Halloween weekend. Then it too will be put on "mothballs" in the orchard.

All in all it has been a great camping season. We have been out almost every weekend and have spent over 70 nights in our silver palaces. We have made new friends and rekindled old friendships. We have seen new sites and been to some late night campfire bull sessions where we solved the worlds problems. Too bad nobody thought to take some notes.

Now for the long haul until spring when we can blow off the dust and hit the road again. COME ON APRIL!!!

Now is the time for virtual Airstreaming here on the forum. At least we can live vicariously through the folks that are fortunate enough to live or travel to warmer climes and are not tethered by the 9 to 5 grind.

Here's looking to the 2009 camping season

After sitting in our gravel drive for too many weeks, Gypsy is once again provisioned and ready to head out tomorrow for our anniversary trip, and probably our last camping until January at John Pennekamp SP in Florida. Windy, cold, rainy is the forecast, but we'll be warm and happy, casting for trout in Bennett's icy cold spring water! Why do we love our Airstream? She's always ready for whatever we choose to do, wherever we want to go, whenever that happens to be...which finally is...tomorrow! ~G

Boy, you sure got this one right. We put ours away as well and hopefully will have it out come late January or early February but ......lots of things to happen for that to be a for sure thing.

I hate to wish time away having already lived through the first half but you are right, us Northerners, be they east or west, are going to be suffering for the next five or so months.

I love my Airstream because we are fortunate enough that compressed air and anti-freeze for the drains is about all there is needed to winterize in our neck of the woods and then she's ready for camping on a moment's notice all winter long. Our issue this fall/winter is finding a weekend that is free to camp. We are trying to squeeze in a nearby trip in November before heading south in December and then to the Can Opener in January. And yes, we pine for the next real camping season in the semi-warm climes, too!

WOW! Things really are higher out west!

BTW...I paid $2.83 for premium yesterday and winterized last Sunday. It was 19* this morning...but supposed to be near 70* this weekend - go figure!

Smile It's Thursday!

It's Thursday and I love my Argosy because it's almost done!!!
And of course it's just wonderful anyhow but once we're rolling along it will be even better.

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
By this Spring we'll be ready to hit the road. Hopefully I"ll get to get out there and meet some of you all real soon!

Happy Thursday and Happy Halloween!
