Well, I like ours because this morning I managed to reinstall the insulation box and bracket that surround the waste tank. And that after removing the two water drain valves (hot, cold lines) that were smack in the way for the new Thetford slide valve from Inland Andy and installing the new valve itself. (The two drain valves barely worked anyway, and we always use compressed air to evacuate water from the system, so the two valves were also superfluous.)

Tomorrow's the big test: Leaks nor not, both with the new slide valve and the two patched water lines. If no leaks, then ... reinstall the (now repaired) belly cover, figure out and repair the leak in one gray line, reinstall the new windows so they don't fall out again, fix the AC, and repaint in the front hitch/tongue area. Gosh durn, we may get to go on vacation this fall yet!

because Big Guy got me through the dust storms at Burning Man in fine style, not to mention all the other Burners who could squeeze into the air conditioned comfort of the bare front end (not to be confused with a lot of bare front ends out on the playa, of course) of a Sovereign!

But that's not all! The best ever was parking in Sego Canyon in the dark and turning on the scare light to behold....

Yes, the scare light was the total illumination.

You can see the perspective of where I parked, here.

I like my Airstream because a Bambi is the best imaginable yard art, and useful too.

Zep, That is a great shot! Well done with available light.

I like the A/S because the new converter is in and appears to be working fine.

It is Thursday, yip skips, and I LOVE my airstream because it, and my wagon, along with another buddy's car who's name is also Barry, was chosen by our car club as the cars on our annual club T shirt.

Our car club believes that hot rods are made to use and we go on an annual tour of a few days and several hundred miles, always on the back roads and stop in many of the small towns for gas, goodies, and tos support the locals. This year there will be 19 of us doing the tour. On this event no trailers given the tight timing and large number of us traveling together, but the good thing is that the Flying Cloud will be proudly there on everyones T-Shirts. See my avatar to see what's on the shirt.

I'm humbled they chose my car and then the Flying Cloud, to represent the club this year.

I guess they like it! Now that there's two Airstreams in the club I envision more to follow.

Life is short - so is the door on a '51 Flying Cloud (ouch)

WoW Thursday already!

Our oldest daughter, who is an Interior Designer in Columbus, came up this week end and did a designe study for the ol' Sovereign. Fabrics, flooring, paint colors, furnature, everything. That reminded me of why I like, no, love my Airstream. It gives me a place to put all that money I had foolishly saved for retirement. Keep Smilin LJH

Its Thursday and I love the Airstream because...

I could practice my bread baking hobby while boondocking! Something I would never do while tenting! I did give the dog a little bit, but it was purely good luck, a good recipe, and great help from others that made this turn out well!!
Thanks Ted for the advice about the parchment, it worked great with high temperature Pam. Thanks to all the dutch oven folks who gave great advice at the Metro D rally. Melody, I did try the pan de campo it was delicious!!

Having the Airstream was great cause I could bring all the gadgets, to weigh and measure, raise the dough in the microwave with just a bowl of hot water to bring the temp up, bake the bread in the dutch oven on the coals, and enjoy!! I used a 12 inch dutch oven to make it, usually this amount of dough I use for the 8 inch indoor dutch oven so I'll have to figure out how to adjust up to make it a bigger loaf...and I'd like to figure out how to make the crust more European(chewy) for the next boondocking adventure!!
