Well, I couldn't log into this thread yesterday due to some technical difficulty that has been resolved so I'm going to log my love note today. It's the day after Thursday and I love my Airstream because tonight I hitch-up to leave first thing in the morning for a long weekend, short trip whichever you call it, trip to our favorite place on earth...Walt Disney World.

Yep, this will be our third camping trip at Ft. Wilderness since we bought our Airstream last May. We have three more trips to Ft. Wilderness planned for this year after this one. Two will be long weekends like this one and one will be for a week just before Christmas! We just can't get enough of camping of Ft. Wilderness.

On a sad note though, this trip comes at optimum timing. My mother-in-law passed away last week and my wife really needs a change in scenery. I was blessed to have a positive relationship with my mother-in-law so I was deeply saddened at her passing , but am glad that her suffering has passed.

Enough of the morose business, on with the camping!

Mother In laws come in all shapes, sizes, and temperments. Mine was a wonderful Scottish war bride and was a great lady. So condolences to you and your family, and go enjoy some time away. Camping heals the soul.

I also lost my mother-in-law this year. A wonderful woman who enjoyed her own life and marriage enough not to interfere with her son's. But she was always there with her dry English wit, her intense interest in politics, her beautiful piano playing, and her love of family, friends, laughter, and a decent scotch.
I think there are surprisingly many of of us who have fond memories of these unexpected women in our lives.
Enjoy your adventures for her--and for her daughter!
Janet

Good for you Gene. It's about time you grabbed one yourself. Now the trick is to get out and enjoy the heck out of it.

Congrats Gene!
Now you can truly tell people looking to buy that you own one, and wouldn't consider anything else!

Good thread for a Thursday

My Airstream has been my portable home for nearly a year. With a few breaks here and there as the exception, the rule has been that my portable home has sheltered me pretty well.

Even with a few little dings here and there, it's always a conversation starter. Usually the conversation starts like this......

"I bet you could get that ding out if you just......" Go ahead, you can fill in the blank.

It's thurday and our minuet is hitched up in front the house stuffed full of merlot and dog food and rain gear and down coats and ready to off to the Oregon coast. In the dim light of early dawn it looks like a giant rolling cotton ball!

It's Thursday and I like my Airstream because, even though we aren't taking it out of the driveway for a while, it will be our safe haven for the next couple of months as we remodel the kitchen in our home.

It's Thursday and I like my Airstream because...we just returned from a long weekend over the President's Day holiday at our favorite place in the world...Disney World. We had a nice couple of conversations with fellow forum members Roy and Sarah (AKA R&SZinser) who happened to be staying in the same loop at Ft. Wilderness.

Even though it was a bit chilly, especially for Florida, we had a nice snug, warm bed waiting for us each night when we returned. Our next adventure isn't for a few more weeks, but we had a great one this weekend. And for those who know me, we didn't have any mishaps this trip...and I backed her in exactly where I wanted her!
