Terry -- In a different universe isn't it, "One is not enough, two's too many, and three's not enough"? Guess that's why balrgn sez there's a unique Airstream 12-step program.

Restoring my Argosy turned into a 144-step program!

One 31' to park in the Airstream park and one 19'-25' to fix/use would be idea for us.

I'm not sure how many is too many, and how few is not enough. We currently have 7, I believe that we have owned a total of 12...but not all at once.

I can tell you that the level of addiction has reached new heights at our house. My husband has cleared and groomed, planted and mowed, manicured and fertilized several acres of our property into a beautiful vintage airstream playground. It is on a large wooded hillside that overlooks a pond (well, currently the pond is under construction), has parking spots that are landscaped and have hookups.

We love it!! And our addiction is catching, the inlaws have it and our best friends are trying to catch it. A lot of our friends call us whenever they see one.

I guess I would say that less may be more.....but more is better!!!

Whether its her or myself that ends up sleeping in the Airstream depends on how far along the restoration is...

I have been up to 3 now back down to one, but I am always looking for another one...just can't decide which one I want most. I have even toyed with the idea of an Integrity....

Well, Paul, great Question. I've had up to five at a time, when I had the 58 SOTR, the 65 Caravel, the 67 TW, the 75 Argosy 22, and the 85 34' Limited. Now I am down to three, the 58, 65, and 67 but am always looking (I am trying for a 53 Cruiser and a 51 Flying Cloud at the moment, oh yeah, a 62 Overlander International as well). Oh yeah - plus we have a Vagabond too. We all know you must have at least two - one to use, and the other to fix, and you SWAP as problems on the good one arise). This is a great thread, as people are always saying - "You have how many?" I know Wayne (our VAC president) has at least 11 right now! What a wife Linda! Zoe' is fine with three, but five was a little much for her, especially when her friends were asking if we were starting a trailer park! Enjoy!

I'll agree with several who have already posted - one to use and one to restore. Our '85 Sovereign will serve very well as the one to use for longer trips. Since we sold the '66 Overlander earlier this year, I'd like to get another vintage unit to "fiddle with" and take to vintage events and maybe other events of shorter duration. In fact I am semi-seriously looking for that vintage unit right now. I'll go into "full serious looking mode" as soon as I can find a house that I can store two trailers at (currently we have to store the Sovereign in an RV storage lot a few miles from home).

We have one I want 3 eventually. The last two will be hurting bad so I don't feel bad doing evil things to them.

The first is the 59 we are doing a full restoration on. Thats the family stream.

#2 will become a car trailer. Ohhh I can hear the groans!!!!!!. I just missed one that was the right price. Here is my deal. I have an addiction call off roading. Well trails are not close anymore and a lot of the 4x4 trips will be 2-3 day events or more because I will have to travel several hundred miles. Traveling that distance I am afraid to drive the trail truck. If I break it I need a way to get it home. So I want to put a Airstream body on a car trailer. It will be stripped out of course and the back will open to allow the truck in. The side at the driver door will have to open enough to open the door on the vehicle.

So the airstream body will help clean up aerodynamics and when the truck is out I will be able to use it as a camper. Yeah no bath but it will have working lights. Some fold down tables to set gear and a cap stove on. One of those fancy air mattress that has its own frame. It will beat the tent for sure.

The last will be one to cut down into Wee wind size so that my 4 cyl 4Runner can handle it. Goal is about 1,000lb with gear I figure about 14 ft should do it. One propane tank, 2 burner stove, Heater buddy with a line to the tank a wet bath and a gaucho to sleep on.

Maybe I need 4....I could use a 7.5ft by 19 foot storage building for the lawn tractor and yard gear.
