we are planning a trip from florida to alaska, we will be leaving 5-1-09 and take four months. we will be cruising the I-10 to cali then up to seatlle. we will be taking the west route to dawson city then the alaska highway. Anyone that has taken this trip let me know what to look out for.

In reality, probably just the trip home to South carollina from Alabama where she's been sitting for the last year getting the frame's droopy rear end repaired.

Only thing I can think of is the fact that you'll be driving the length of the most boring stretch of highway in America(I-10). However, when you pass the first exit in Alabama, you'll be within half a mile of my AS that's currently sitting at my folks place down there. Honk when you roll through!

We haven't been out in our AS since November due to injuries. My wife broke her right leg snow skiing in January at Lake Tahoe and has finally able to walk without crutches.

Starting this weekend we will be free sprits for awhile. The Region 9 rally this weekend, the TAU Chili cookoff the end of April, and then we start our 3 month trip with our AS. We have never been East before so we will be going that direction and then make our way to Madison for the big rally before returning back to South Texas. I figure we will do over 10,000 before we arrive back at our home the end of July. We are really looking forward to getting out in the AS.

We'll take 5-6 trips. Longest from NJ to Yellowstone via Estes Park, CO RMNP) and returning through Mt Rushmore.

We are just home after 2 months south, will head out in a few weeks for a month south again--JazzFest in NOLA, a bicentennial in southern MS, family gathering near the Blue Ridge mtns in NC, home til July (other than camping with the grandbabies)---then north and east for 3 months. Home by the end of October until January again. We love our Interstate (the toy poodle of RV's), and are having just the best time exploring the country. Life is good.

How far will you travel in your Airstream this year?

It looks like my travels will be about 500 miles less than last year. I am estimating about 3,500 miles compared to 4,000 last year. The location of the International Rally being only 500 miles away helped to reduce my total. The furthest that I will be traveling this year is to the Rocky Mountain Vintage Airstream Club Rally in Laramie, Wyoming. Thus far, beyond Madison and Laramie, all of the rallys for which I have registered are no more than 250 miles from home.

I am splurging in one way this season. My Overlander is coming out of mothballs and will be my coach of choice. In fact, I towed it to a nearby RV Technician yesterday for its pre-season check-up. Its next trip will be to the tire store for a new set of ST tires.
