How about a tow vehicle diesel engine poll?
I'm new here and not sure how to set up the poll...Which is your favorite tow vehicle diesel engine and why? 6.2 Chev

Some of us use a more refined fuel!!!
Nice listing, however, some of us use gasoline; cracked somewhat higher in the refining system. Can this poll be renamed to indicate diesel powerplants? That way those of us still using the rather old-fashioned gas engines won't be hitting the thread to see how our particular engine has fared, as obviously, it won't fare at all!

7.8 460 cubic inch ford reg gas, used to pull a 34' airstream, now pulls our 31' airstream. hope I got that right. We ripped things out of the trailer so fast we have no idea of the weight of a 1970 sov Int'l AS. And it will be loaded with extra stuff. Does anyone have an approximation of the weight of this trailer filled with goodies? (like washer/dryer over tires?) silver suz.

My '93 F-350 with an aftermarket Banks turbo is my favorite tow vehicle because it's my only tow vehicle! Besides my '77 Sovereign International, it easily handles a four-horse gooseneck with camping quarters on which I am going to try Blue Magic. I'll post pics of before and after on that one. If it works as well as some people say (Blue Magic thread), I'll try it on the F-350 and the Sovereign.

We've been tugging our Airstream with our Ford 7.3 powerstroke,with a few modifications,we even have to watch our speeds on incline grades (gee officer). No replacement for displacement.

It would be real tough to guess, based on all of the potential options for materials you could be using. I believe our '72 runs around #7500 dry and basically stock from the factory.

I tow with a 92 Dodge Cummins 4x4 5speed because I found it when I needed it at a price that was right. I have since put on the full monty Banks system as well as a pac exhaust brake. If money were no object I would have a new Dodge 6spd stick 4x4 325 hp 600 ft/lbs of torque quad cab short bed.

I have two Powerstrokes, and one Duramax.. I liked the Powerstrokes when that was all I had.. now I am assessing the Duramax, I will get back to you on this after 10,000 miles.

WHY the 404 error
Everytime I try to vote in one of these mini-polls I get a 404 error message or the poll is over and how could that be I check in almost every day?

How about the 2.7 liter turbo diesel in my '05 Sprinter? Pulls 5000#, so we've done just fine with a 19' Bambi. Over about 4000 miles in the last year, we averaged 16-17 mpg pulling the trailer. Around Lake Superior, and down into the Arkansas Ozarks. Very steep hills will slow it down a bit, but it has five speeds to work with. I'm very happy-this is my regular transportation for work, too, and I average 22-23 mpg. As much as 25 if I hold it to 60-65 on the highway.
