With all the unpleasant comments made about the group who use red numbers(you know who),, why would you want it to look like you belong to them?

Puleeze! Illeagal? No way. Our 1954 California Cruiser has the ghosted numbers 128! We bought a 2nd membership in WBCCI just so we could get #1 1281. But, being as we are getting kicked out, that 11281 will just become 128. We are preserving the history of the trailer which is far more interesting to us.
Go ahead - put numbers on it and when someone asks you what they mean, you can make up your own story or talk about the history of the trailer and where it has been if you can find that out.

Just don't use numbers like 70496. That one's someone's intellectual property, from what I understand.

In certain quarters C&Ds are considered a source of pride. Some of my friends collect them.

In the beginning I didn't know what the numbers ment. I lovedd the look. Kinda reminded me of an old airplane of sorts. I like the look. I called the Wbcci last week and the four digit number I want is taken. So I thought I'd get opinions....

If they "took" I don't see why you can't "took" it too, in fact why don't you tell us what it is and we could all "took" it. That may keep 'em busy for awhile.

Is it true, really?
Is it true that the WBCCI has a secret hit squad that roams the country seeking unpaid-for big red numbers on AS trailers?
I'm keeping my watchdog armed, just in case...

Keep in mind that there are many trailers sold or traded in that have their numbers still intact. I'm certain that some of them are still cruising on the road today and their owners probably are not WBCCI members. I really wouldn't be too concerned about putting on your own. Personally if I was going to put on numbers and I didn't want my forum number, I'd probably consider the number of my home address. After all my Airstream is my home away from home...

I think you should use your debit card PIN. That way, if you forget it, you can just look at your trailer.

Numbers are not normally something that can be copyrighted or trademarked. I would think that you could put any number you want on your trailer as long as it isn't "patently offensive" to others. Not even the WBCCI and it's 400+ lawyer law firm can stop you.
Then again, if you wanted to show your disapproval you could also use a piece of black electrical tape placed diagonally across your nice new red numbers.......
If you do get a letter from their counsel please post it for us to enjoy!

I say use any number but #1 That was Mr. Byam's and I would not like to see his name used improperly.

Why don't you...........
I see no problem here. Why don't you just join one of the Units here in North Texas...even though the Four Corners and New England Units look Great....The folks I have met in all those Units are super....no "piss and moan" types and you will get all the new owner help you can stand. You will enjoy them...AND, you will get red numbers.
Anything about the overall Organization begins to bother you....ignore them. Go have fun.

If you become a supporting member here ,you get a number and then Donavan can make ya some blue numbers for your trailer.
Blue AIR numbers look pretty cool I think. The way Donavan cuts em out they are very easy to put on.

Glad to see some are enjoying this.
It looks like the club will continue to break apart over the next many years. Over fifty years of history and the work of so many all to bring people and travelling machines together to share their stories around the campfire.
We have heard all the good and bad things about what is happening to the club. Many have very positive experiences like me. Others with more experience at the "official level" are very unhappy and have left the club. So here we are.
The beginning of the end? I think most that have joined and travelled and camped with the club will be sad about this.
A few others that never made the effort to experience what the club had to offer for whatever reason are now cheering at the deathbed and waiting to dance around the grave.
What is the motivation of the deathwatchers here? Why should anyone be happy to see the unraveling of this otherwise great old club?
Can enough chemo be injected into the body to kill off the cancer and not the whole body? Or is this it? The end of the name and history once and for all?
Some here hope so. Do you find yourself taking great pleasure at the sight of these troubles?
What is UP with that?

numbers
New idea for numbers, well.......... maybe.
For those that no longer belong to WBCCI, and won't be, how about using our AirForums membership number?
Hey Andy, you could publish a book with all those names and numbers, for a fee, of course.
But on the other hand, for whatever reasons, some members of the Forums list a city they have never lived in, as their place of residence.
What's to hide from?
The WBCCI lists their addresses anyways.
Andy
