First long trip-need some advice

I live north of the Pittsburgh PA area and I will be leaving for San Antonin next week.
I am looking for an over night stop between Columbus Ohio and Cincinnati Ohio.

How do you go about determining your over night stops?
I plan to drive 5-6 hours a day.
Do you use Wal Marts or Flying J, and if you do is there a security problems?

If you have a smart phone or pad, Allstays has an app that we use.

It is most handy in situations like yours.

Good luck!

Most of the campgrounds that far north are closed for the winter. You might consider jumping over to Jackson Center, and overnight at the Terraport on the Airstream Factory grounds.

As far as Flying J's and Wal-Marts are concerned, we overnight in their parking lots on a regular basis and have for quite a few years. We have always felt safe there.

We start looking for a place to stay at around 3PM. I have several different POIs loaded into the GPS that will take you to a campground. We look for Passport America ones first since we get half off on these. On our recent 3500 mile trip we found nice campgrounds every night and most were very reasonably priced and our average price per night was under $20.

NASHVILLE, TN location

I have stayed at this location - it's a little further south then you mentioned but a VERY nice Walmart. People there were friendly and the managers were specific on what they wanted from you. Specifically they did not want you to look like you were "camping" but parking overnight was allowed. They did not want you to disconnect but just to the NE on a side road is a big movie theater parking lot adjacent to lots of food establishments - use google maps and you will see. I stayed there 4 times in a year on my way north. Never an issue. Easy road access to the highway.
