Ours was installed correctly because I watched the installation and I told the installer that I wanted the gas line to run over the bolt instead of between frame and bolt. Did not seem right.

I also added a thick piece of "hose" to the bolt to protect from possible rubbing. The only hard part was drilling a coulpe of rivetts out that hold the support brackets for the propane line, one I replaced.

crazylev,

Post a picture of your installation, so we can see what your dealer did.

Thanks,

Randy

Mine is correct because I installed it, I was changing the regulator on my '63 so at the same time I moved the line and added a new rubber hose from the regulator to the line and solved the hitch bracket problem.

Yes, lewster, I've received of late, from one whose name rhymes with gates, service that I'd generously rate as not so great.

Hi Randy,

I don't have a real good close up of my set-up and my AS is about 22 miles from me. The best I can do is this:

http://www.airforums.com/attachments...4/dsc_2044.jpg

You can see the small bracket on the under side of the frame that supports the gas line. That had to get repositioned slightly.

I just ran across the threads on the Equalizer installation. My dealer here in Vegas installed the Equalizer corrrectly on our 2007 23' Safari SE. In fact I was concerned when I first noticed that the propane line was bent so the lower bolt of the sway bracket could pass over it. Its a relief to know that the installation was correct. In 4000 miles of towing including many mountain grades we have had no problems with the the bolts losening or the sway brackets moving. The L brackets do rotate slightly as others have noted. I will check all the bolts before our next trip.

I have installed a bolt through the top hole of the L bracket so that if the square bolt was to loosen the L bracket would not fall out as one person has reported.

I'll be correctly installing an Equal-I-Zer over the week end and promise to take shots to document the procedure regarding the LP line! (now that my new camera has a smaller format that's Forum-friendly)

Dealer Correction to Installation

I have posted a report of my Airstream dealer's correction to my incorrectly installed Equal-i-zer on the original discussion thread.

My equalizer was installed incorrectly. This past Sunday while taking a right turn out of a filling station over a little dip, the left L bracket hit the pavement. The whole bracket moved up and back hitting the gas line. Crimmped it, but I don't think caused a leak. None the less, gas is off until I can get line replaced.
