Email security, would you pay for an account?

Here is a questoin for mobile emailer.

As internet fraud and identity thef becomes more and more prevalent, would you pay for more secure email?

I ask as I use my corproate account that is a Microsoft Exchange Server. The Server is kept patch current and includes anti-spam and virus protection. I use my work account at times for internet purchases and online banking transactions and secure (encrypted) correspondance.

Would you be willing to pay for secure email?

How much?

Would you want Blackberry or Windows CE support?

As a vendor, would you like a trusted contact method for business use?

Why I posted this poll

Hi streamers.

I posted this poll for a semi retirement project. I thought it woulkd be interesting to "offer" secure email accounts to members of the WBCCI. I have also registered the qualified domain name wbcci.us in anticipatoin of some interest.

My view would be all members that opted in would get a 2 gig account with a name like michael.3841.neu.wbcci.us, or something like that, the members name and wbcci number. I see members collaborating easier, with online folders, each region with it's own domain, or there are many different ways to set set up where it would be usefull. The part that is important to me, is security. I cringe at sending emails through free services with account data.

Ok, thanks for looking and see you on the road.

What are you calling secure email? Secure server? secure path?
Right now I am doing pretty good.

My ISP has virus blocking and well as SPAM bocking. Only email addresses I apporved get through. My path: protect if I wish. I use open VPN which encrypts all traffic. I use it especially if I am using a pulbic WI-FI hotspot.

Is that what you are talking about?

You can sign up with a program like Postini - Secured. Prepared. Productive – archive email, filtering, encryption and spam filter solutions (now a part of google) which pre-filters your email for spam and viruses before it gets to your computer. Many of the big ISP's offer this too, but I found them generally more annoying that Postini. Postini is not perfect either, but it should keep you relatively spam free and totally virus free (unless you pick one up while web surfing). It's $4 a month.

Actually, my Thunderbird does a fairly nice job of removing spam and alerting me to spoofs. I submit spam to KnujON - a reporting service that works to shut down spammers.
I would have no need for any secure mail. I will say that secure mail is a relative thing - My mail at work is supposed to be secure but get spammed all the time and I don't even use it for personal reasons so I know that my corporate email address has no footprint.
