Armchair Airstreamers?
Have you ever wondered wether you enjoy repairing and restoring your aluminum pets more than actually taking them out for an adventure?
Granted it takes all kinds and many derive great pleasure from "garage vacations"
So.... at the risk of being flamed, I ask, what do you find most gratifying?

My wife has told me in the past that I enjoy talking about the airstream (usually here) more than actually using it!

As much as the guys love working on the trailer, I just want it to be done. My problem is I can already see what it will look like in my mind, the problem is with them catching up to it and my inability to work on it. I can also see what it will look like with alternative schemes like using the original bath stuff. I also do all the internet research and pass the info on to them. Pretty soon I'll work on curtains and stuff.
But I'm very sad that it isn't ready so I could use it right now to be at my dying mom-in-law's side. It's more my need for the trailer to be ready to go, and that looks like quite a while. However I love talking to everyone on this forum, and have found loads of useful information, and good friends. silver suz

Hi my name is Brett and it has been 3 weeks since I last bought an Airstream.
I am a user, a fixer, and a subject mixer. I get my ideas on the forum (Steve Miller musical reference)

All of the above! Admitting you have a problem is the first step...but then again, who wants to step into recovery?

Right now I am discussing fixing my trailer while looking at it and dreaming that I will eventually be able to use it, and of course, ranting about it.

I just replaced the right front wheel bearings on my lunch hour. I think this could be a sign that I have a problem.

Hello, my name is Ingrid, and I'm a dreamer. ("Hi, Ingrid...")
You all already know about my dreaming, and the keyboard key marks on my forehead from banging my head on it wanting to go get it.
siiiiighhh
but it is pretty cool to tell everyone about it.

Gosh, the tinkering is the only thing that keeps me sane between using it. That's why, when I sensed I might be running out of things to do to the Caravel, I added the Bambi to the fleet
If anyone tries to cure me I WILL resist!

Hi,
My name is Marie,
I am a user, fixer, dreamer, dreamer, (oh, I said that), and it has been 3 weeks since I helped buy one.
I do not want a cure.

I purchased my silver palace on May 3 and am using it for my business travel. Since then, I have spent 34 nights in the Airstream and 7 nights in my home in Florida. This unit is getting a serious shakedown cruise.
My next favorite preoccupation is dreaming about alternative interiors. My thoughts run to the extreme creative and artsy versions I have seen on the Internet. But that is way down the road. Right now I am enjoying it "as is" and thinking about how much I do NOT miss the Extended Stay America.

Well, it is most definetly an "Airstream malady" which is not limited to it's vintage years. It is highly contagious and uncurable to all years alike.
The proof?
We bought NEW because we believed we were USERS and didn't want to be fixers. Yet in this first year of ownership we have not spent a day in it without FIXING something.

Hi. My name is Terry, and I am an Airstreamer. It has been 4 days since I have Airstreamed. My addiction started small, but I have wanted more and more Airstreams. I know I can stop any time I want, I just don't want to...
Terry
