Aage,

See post 156 for the link. It used to be about equal and now Mac's aree opening up a significant lead.

Shiny trailers, shiny Mac's—they match.

I didn't chime in, Win7 at work. We're a Windows shop.

At home:

But the G4 tower has been replaced by a Mac Mini.

Well I am a Mac, PC and an "i" person too. I work with technology training and come to the forum with all of them. My preference is the
Mac though.

Typing this on a MacBook Pro - now my work machine. Have a Mac in the family room that is the "family's" but each kid has their own MacBook (the white plastic ones) at college. Iphone. And seriously considering the newer Ipad although I'm told the last one is still a great buy. Having used Windows stuff when I was employed since the MS-DOS days I'd never go back after about 3-4 years with the MacBookPro...

Yeah, I gave up on PC at DOS v3.3 long before windows. Ive been through many many macs but the promise of mac was not realized until OS10 and the whiz bang iPhone and iPad. I must say that I didn't understand the allure of the iPad until a friend put one in my hands without saying a word. Took about 45 seconds for the lightbulb to go on. At work we had macs but were forced to PC in the late 90s. Now I have a macbook pro at work and run VMWare XP for work and flop back and forth easily. I have a solid state hard drive so the mac boots quickly (45 sec) and the VM machine resumes in another 60 seconds. Cool! If I need to reboot VM I can surf the net on the mac while I'm waiting.

I'm a retired engineer and I've used computers most of my career for design work (CAD), spread sheets, relational data bases, word processing, etc. Needless to say, I have mostly used PCs. DOS based PCs were where the Mac/Apple operating systems really gained traction in my opinion. However, again in my opinion, the Windows OS has been really pretty darned intuitive and trouble free since the XP OS. I current run Win 7 on both my laptop and desktop.

Now, most "computer" users mainly want to be able to send and receive text and graphics along with being able to access information and a few applications that they depend on. In the future, as hand held devices continue to gain ground, neither the PC nor the MAC may be the system of choice. Also, neither the iPhone/iPad/Android or anything else that's current today may have relevance in the future except from a historical perspective.

Apple IIc in 1983, PC since 1990. Still was able to sell the IIc for $500 in 1990! Was a great word processor for the time.

First machine was an Apple IIe when I was a kid, then it was PC until about 3 years ago. I'm an IT exec and have built my career on Intel/Windows over the last 15 years but the iphone/ipad have taken over the mobility market and the macbook air is a game changer for our traveling execs.

In the last three years I've had a Macbook pro and two airs. Hard to imagine ever going back to a PC.
