Question Airstreams as Resort Accomodations?

Hello All,
We own a small resort in North Central Arkansas. (www.101norforkresort.com) We are considering permanently intalling one or more pristine, vintage 31'-34' Airstreams as vacation accommodations. They would be in a secluded wooded location near Norfork Lake with a hot tub deck and outdoor living/barbeque area.

We have two questions:
1. Do any of you know of similar existing vacation rental in the USA?
2. Do you think that this vacation option would be attractive to couples looking for a private get-away.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Awesome!

Sounds like a great idea to me, but then I might be just a 'little biased!'

If you decide to go that route and you need the workings updated/repaired, etc., keep me in mind. I wouldn't have a problem going up to you, time permitting, to spend a week or so getting your 'fleet' ready, time permitting of course.

Good Idea. I would do something of the sort of it was more local.

For me the charm is being able to pull up stakes and see what is down the road. I always feel a little sad when I see an Airstream permanently mounted in one spot. That is what a cabin is intended for, sitting in one spot all its life. An Airstream needs to be free to move.

I know of no resorts using Airstreams but I believe there was an article in Sunset magazine a coupla years ago about using one as a guest house.

This seems inviting to us; we like the cozy, safe feeling of the interiors of Airstreams.

We are actually looking for a place in the White Mtns (we live in Tucson) where we can leave ours on a lot and use it as a get-away cabin.

You sound like you're in a better location than Shady Dell -- it's chronically 'For Sale.'

I believe one of our forum members has stayed at the Shady Dell and perhaps will chime in here about the experience of staying at an AS "resort," pros and cons. Best wishes. This sounds like an attractive idea to me, especially in your great vacation setting. ~G

hi 2air'
We are down a gravel road and a steep hill and have no hook-ups. Searcy is quite away aways from here over mountain roads. The spaces that we are considering are semi-complete hook-ups put in by the previous owners that we will either use for cabins, campsites or permanently intalled vintage motor homes.

There's this:
http://www.cozycoachesandcabins.com/

Ialso remember seeing a hotel that had a few airstreams on it's property which were rented as suites. ca't find the website or remember where it is located though.
