I did not vote for the blue globe. I think the A/S blue color would look great on most of the older trailers but most of the newer A/S's have gotten away from the traditional blue color. As time goes on with the addition of newer A/S's to the forum this blue color will become more and more unpopular. The going down the road theme is more flexable as far as color is concerned. Not a big deal but just a thought.

There were quite a few that I liked, but those are my two favorites as well. I had printed out the "goin' down the road" earlier and it looked great in my window for a trial run. The second round vote should be fun to watch. What about the tee-shirt concept? Still thinking about putting the selected logo on it?

That's what I think makes the "etched glass" look most desirable. Matches everybody's color scheme.

It's a close call really.

But the Airstream Going Down the Road captures a mood and seems a little less "computer-ie".

I voted early for the blue globe because it would fit with my '77 Land Yacht. However, I liked both designs very much. I notice that the current vote is close to a tie. So how about taking orders for both designs. I'd probably get some of each to decorate different items.

From a cost standpoint, the red square is a four color print job. The etched glass -one.

I think the blue globe is one color (shades of the same color count as one - it's a percent thing). The blue globe would cost more due to the shape. It would be special die cut.

Dang, first the 2000 debacle and now this! I just hope it doesn't get ugly and personal! (OK, I'm already ugly.

Let's not get personal!)

Well, hey y'all! Thanks so much for the kind words about the Goin' Down the Road (feelin' fine, too!) design. It's warmed this girl's winter-worn heart.

Our '85 345 friend is correct in the assesment both four-color and die cut processes are more expensive. I am curious to see what pricing is on the newer technology of digital printing, which in my experience can provide a more cost-effective solution. However I would suggest further research on that process, I'm not familiar with the durability of fade-resisitance on a digital graphic.

The Blue Globe design would look fantastic as a die-cut decal. Depending on quantity, that option may become less of an issue in the per piece pricing. However, in my opinion it would work well as on a clear rectangular background as well, thus eliminating that expense.

Keep in mind the etch-look design is a subtle approach, not something that will stand out from a distance. I like the suggestion of offering both a color and etched version and either design should be suited.

I know the choice is difficult,the designs appeal to distinctly different sensibilities. However I do think it is essential to choose one design or the other, so the Forums may have an established identity. If my design is not chosen as such, I'd be happy to work with anyone interested in developing it for another application for your individual Airstream. I am sure our other artist would as well.

A few minutes ago I printed out the two contender designs, plus one of my other favorites, on clear plastic. The height dimension for both designs was about 4 inches. From a distance of approximately 15 feet, only the blue globe and the red square were "readable" as distinct designs. Of these two, the blue globe was more readable, with "Airstream" being decipherable. I could probably have also deciphered "Forums.com" by squinting, but probably only because I am familiar with these terms.

Many eons ago, my high school art teacher told us that billboards should be able to be read from a car passing at (minimally) 35 mph. If we apply the same principle to the two designs, I think the blue globe wins. To minimize costs, it could be printed on a clear plastic rectangle, rather than die cut. Anyone who wanted to do so could then cut it out. (We do aluminum and rivets, right?!!)

Wow I've been away for awhile and was pleasantly surprised to come back and find my two favorite designs have made it to the "next round"!

Just a thought on the technical aspects of printing either design:

From my point of view it would seem that the Blue logo would look best printed in three spot colors on clear. (White, Blue, and Light Blue).

Goin down the road would be great as a four color on silver mylar so the A/S could be silver and really stand out.

As Carmen mentioned there are a variety of ways the printing could be accomplished - screening being the most fade resistant. When and if the time comes that we might get to do shirts, mugs, license plates, etc then digital processes would save costs since more colors are being used and greater detail can be achieved. This is especially true when small production runs are required, say from one to one hundred pieces.

I can't wait to see where this goes! Both images are great.
