I got married in 1975 the year of our 25 foot Tradewind. I could not afford an AS until now. The AS is built like a tank. 25 years old and still going. Quality built throughout.
I pull the trailer with a 2002 Ford F250 4x4 with a V10 gas engine.

My wife and I are 63 and have only been RVing for 2.5 years. Our trailer is a '78 31' Excella 500. It is a lot of work but then I am retired and it keeps me out of trouble.

I am so glad to see that 59% of the owners of vintage Airstreams are between the ages of 40 and 59. That tells me that there are a lot of younger people getting into Airstreaming and that is good. The clubs, WBCCI and Vintage need "youngsters" to keep them alive and vital.

Well I see that we are in the majority (baby boomers I guess).

Both our ages together are 4.5 times older than the camper we have now, and it's old!

Actually we are 48 and 47; our camper is an 83 model. (A little math problem there, I always hated them in school!)

Our first Airstream was a 22'(I think) 1968 Safari. We got it because it was cheap! The toilet was sitting through the floor where it was rotted out. Did that scare us, you ask? No, we had no fear of what we were getting into. We never thought about the expense, never thought about what didn't work on it, never thought about the brakes. Why? Because we were young, those things just didn't matter then! We fixed it up, I did the repairs, and she did the upholstery work and the curtains. When we sold it we got our money back plus most of what we had in it.

It was our 2nd RV and it had been a few years since our first one. We had missed camping and when we decided to get back into it we answered a newspaper add which just happened to be an A/S. We have had one ever since and are on our 3rd one now and never regretted getting that first one! I don't remember much about them before we ever got one; where there wasn't any in either of our families. I guess I just thought they looked kind of "ODD." However, they did catch my eye!
Visit our church on the web!
