inner skin
What did you use to fasten them? I would be afraid of metal screws pulling out over time. 1/4 inch birch? Thats nice stuff. Im sure that installed lengthwise the sheer strength would be enough quite good.

54 cruiser
received my converter ac/dc control panel yesterday along with 2 fantastic fans and an array of other cool stuff. The rest of the appliances including a 200watt flex solar system, Furnace, fresh water tank and grey tank, on demand water heater and Natures Head commode should arrive any day now. I ordered it now so I could make sure of the positioning and wiring before laying in the inner panels.
Cleaned up the back hatch and riveted on the new emblem. Re-wired the DC in the trailer. Didn't like the way I had it setup. Much cleaner now. Also taped out the floor plan. 24" cabinets and benches for the dinette? Seems tight.

Panelled my 55 FC
I did mine in 1/8" Baltic birch (over existing inner skin). Birch is held in place by aluminum flat bar trim and not actually attached to inner skin. Gets lots of compliments.

'67 safari birch interior
We did a birch interior in our safari. We also attached it over the inner skin.

I kept the roof and end cap tops aluminum and slid the wood under the original skins that I kept. I used Olympic rivets on the seams (as well as on the extra rib supports) and screws along the bottom. The thought is the galley, dinette, gaucho, etc. will add some extra sturdiness as well once they go in.
The panels went in vertically to match the grain of the original closets and galley. Also made it easier to bend to the contour of the end cap.

polishing end caps
Has anyone ran into the problem of deep etching or corrosion in the end caps? Im killing myself trying to polish this out. Ive been hitting it with F7. I worked one panel with some steel wool but now I have scratches I have to work out. Im up for suggestions. Cheers, Mike

Paint thinner and lots of elbow grease. Move and change the rags often!

1954 airstream
One of two fantastic fans installed. 48 rivets on each one. What a pain. Im done drilling out rivets. Did a little more polishing. I think someone must have left her in front of a sprinkler for 20 years. Lots of oxidation. Other side is much better. Received my self composting toilet today. Natures choice. We'll see how that works out. Im excited about no blue juice of stinky slinky.

Found this on YouTube, went with this system for all my compounding and polishing, very fast.....toastie
Got everything at Caswell's
(1) - GA58 Grinder/Buffer Adapter
(4) - SSCW1220 Spiral Sewn Cotton Wheels
(2) - LCW1240 Loose Cotton Wheels
(1) ea. - BRBC5 Brown Tripoli Bar & White Rouge Bar, I would
go with the black rouge for your problem.
(1) - WR995 Wheel Rake (for cleaning & fluffing the wheels)

When using the cyclo polisher for the finish, I followed Tom of perfect polish with nuvite "S". Take note of the wraps that you can get from perfect polish, a great design, and a time saver. When compounding I use Bright Work Metal Polish "white".......toastie
