Looking for weight of mid 50's Cruiser

Hello to all, I'm new here. I might have the chance to pick up a mid 50's 25 ft Cruiser, but am unsure if my truck can reasonably be expected to pull it, so I'm asking if anyone knows the appx weight of these trailers. My truck is a 1996 Toyota T100 5spd 4cyl long bed. Thanks in advance, Yakster

Weight of 1955 26' Cruiser

Yakster:

A 1955 26' single axle Cruiser with standard equipment but no options and no load weighed 3,280 pounds and had a 300 pound hitch weight. Overall width was 85". Others will have to comment on your truck.

Having had the '97 T100 with the 3.4l six AND a '94 Compact truck with the 3.0l six, AND an '87 compact truck with the 22RE four, and now having an '02 Tundra with the 3.4l six, AND having towed various trailers with all of them, I'd say your T100 with the 22RE isn't up to a Cruiser. I towed a '61 Bambi 16' at roughly 2,000 lbs with the '87 Toyota 22RE in the flatlands of Iowa, and while it got the job done, it wasn't impressive. Doubling the weight of the truck along with doubling the weight of the trailer, and I doubt you'll like it at all.

I towed two '53 Flying Cloud 21' trailers with the '94 Compact Truck with the 3.0l six and it wasn't particularly impressive either. The 3.4l six in the T100 and now in the Tundra would probably do OK with the Cruiser tho... I've been impressed with it's performance in both trucks. I don't think I'd try to tow a Cruiser with any of the Compact Trucks or the Tacomas simply because of their light weight compared with the T100/Tundra.

I hope that helps...

Roger

Appreciate the replies! I should have mentioned that my intent is to only get the trailer home, a one way trip, do any rehab it would need, and then with any luck (and a new job) I intend to buy a Tundra with a six cyl (I would opt for the 8cyl but you can't get the manual trans) for excursions. Down side is that the one way trip would be appx 1000 miles. Up side is that it would be in mostly flat lands. If this is really a bad idea, I should probably look into borrowing a bigger truck, but really don't want to put any of my buddies out. Thanks again, Yakster
