I know galvanized resists rust longer than untreated steel, but did you add an additional layer of protective coating or anything?

Thanks Steve, We thought of sealing it but it will be decades before it rusted enough to be a problem.

Running water!

The water flows and better yet stays where it is supposed to!

Also finished the front wall of the bathroom, there was an extra door left over from the original cabinets that I installed on the second half of the bath wall. The extra door will be for pictures and postcards and other memories of our trips.

Installed the door for the top of the frig cabinet, this will hold the papers for the trailer road maps and ???

I ordered the wrong gasket for toilet so waiting for that to come in again. The ups delivery guy has no problem finding our house anymore!

Curtains, bed and cushions

Nellie is getting more comfortable each day, we installed the bed with sheets and pillows. The new cushions came in from our upholstery guy and Jan is about half way through making curtains.

Our upholstery guy also made new cushions for Jan's chair and the two fold-o-matic chairs.

We made the curtain rods out of deer antlers and 3/8" aluminum tubing.

All I want to do is sit in the camper now!

Recently I learned that the screens on the windows cannot be installed in the groves without removing the windows so now I am in the process of making framed screens that can be inserted and screwed in place. I think this will give a more finished look anyway.

On my To Do list as well, Doug. Somewhere in toastie's thread he has a few pics of doing it with frames.

Nellie is looking great. Just get ready to budget extra time when you're camping to give tours and answer questions. You'll be drawing a crowd.

cheers,
steve

Thanks Steve, We will be camping in a week, probably won't have everything done. I made one screen today by bending a aluminum frame over the edge of the screen, it worked pretty well. I will post a picture tomorrow.

Screens

Started making the framed screens. I started by cutting the screen 1/2" bigger then the window opening then cut 4 pieces of aluminum 2 1/2" wide by the length and width of the window. Next I folded the strips in half over the edge of the screen, creating a 1 1/4" frame, then bent the outer1/2" edge up at 90 degrees to stiffen and to give a place to screw it into the window frame.

Vanity

Finished the Bathroom vanity last night. I was able to re-use the original aluminum door from the old vanity just minus the old peeling lime green paint.

Could not find a 1954 microwave so purchased a nice little unit at a garage sale for $5.00 and installed it on a slide out shelf. I should paint it silver, white just doesn't look right!
Now you see it!

Next I finished the lights and cover for the tank vent in the bathroom.
And most important of all the gasket for the toilet base came in, the toilet works great and the bathroom is complete!!

I love the floors! Nice job on the pull out microwave cab just like Airstream puts in the newer units.

Thanks Steve, We didn't want to see the microwave and it worked out very well with the slide out, I had planned on some set up for it in the cabinet and had install a 110volt outlet for it.

We load up tonight for our first trip, only 50 miles but a good trial run.

Lots of little things to finish on Nellie but everything is very usable.

Way to go, Doug!

As much fun as these old trailers are to work on, they're even more fun to camp in.

cheers,
steve
