Saturday Ann and I was driving down 287 outside of Decatur, TX and I saw two Argosys parked in a yard with a for sale sign. Tucked further back was a 68 Overlander. He had a little handpainted sign that said "RVs for sale". So we turned around and pulled in. As we walked toward the Overlander we passed a barn and there as a Cruiser parked under a tree. I asked him about it and he said he "sort" of owned it. The owner had bought a truck and still owed him $1,500 and had told him to keep the trailer in lieu of the $1,500. The outside didn't look too bad so I peeked inside. Definately a total redo - floor included. Anyway, I figured for $1,500 I might as well drag it home. The skin is in good condition but the front window is gone. Anyway - I guess I've got something to do over the winter & spring and probably summer...

Let me know if you find a source for the front window, I need two 25X14 side windows for my 1954 Double Door Liner. I have checked several places with no luck.

Hi Bill - I'm going to go visit a RV salvage yard - I'll keep that size in mind. I was afraid that finding a window might be a challenge.

Are the frames for the windows still there? If so, you can get glass cut at any glass shop to go into the frames. It would have to be easier, and cheaper, than finding complete windows in an RV salvage yard.

Well - I figured I'd share the joy for what it's worth. I spent the weekend stripping everything out of the shell. I did find $6.50 in quarters and two expired prophylactics (thankfully still in the package). I think the trailer has spent the last 12 years being used as a hanta virus culture. The rats and mice had quite a community. Good thing I had just bought a new respirator mask.

After I got the last of the interior out, I dug out the good 'ol airless sprayer and sprayed the entire interior with Removall SV-35. The same stuff I've used in the past to remove clear coat. Within an hour several layers of the paint that had been applied over the Zolatone started to fall from the ceiling. I left the stuff on overnight to make sure it penetrated. Yesterday when I got home I cranked up the gas powered pressure washer and started blasting the paint off. The areas that had paint on top of Zolatone will have to be done a second time but the areas that had nothing but Zolatone just literally flew off the walls. The aluminum was so shiny underneath I hate to cover it up with new Zolatone, which was the original plan. I've got to order some more SV-35 but once it's done we'll make a final decision.

Once we're done here, the shell comes off and the real fun begins. YUK!

You sure didn't waist any time getting a move on that baby.... What a find... how come you didn't buy all of them...LOL..

Hope you are able to leave the aluminum, it looks great! Keep up with the pictures, it's great watching the process...!

Thanks Ron, one at a time is enough for me. Yes, we're moving right along. I got the shell of Saturday and spent yesterday morning removing the floor and belly pan. I'll post some pics after I download them. I'm glad I went the shell off route as the frame is shot. Every crossmember is so corroded that a lot of the bolts were pulling through. I couldn't believe how bad they were, some of them had broken free from frame rails.

I'm going to start building a new frame this week. I wanting to get the shell back on before we start getting into any fall rains. We do plan on leaving the inside bare aluminum. I'm going to buff it and clearcoat it once the shell is back on. I'll get the pics posted.
