worth of a 73 26ft Argosy

I ran across a ad for a 26ft Argosy trailer and waiting on pictures. The Vintage airstream thing is a little traditional Airstream biased. I'm looking for some average prices these are going for. Guy is asking $2200 but is flexible and needs it gone.

If it's in fair shape I may pic it up and use it till our 59 is good to go put a little elbow greese in it and sell it next spring.

The larger tandem axle Argosy coaches tend to bring from 10% to 20% less that similar model/condition Airstream coaches. The price on the Argosy 26 that you are considering is just slightly higher than what I paid for my '78 Minuet 6.0 Metre two + years ago - - the Minuet needed an axle as well as a new water heater, tires and brake repairs -- all other components were in good condition - - the upholstery and other "soft-goods" needed replacement. The Minuet also required adding an air conditioner as the original owner had just ordered the "air conditioner prep-package" and had never had an air conditioner installed.

If the coach turns out to be a decent in condition with a decent paint job and most if not all systems fully function I would consider the asking price well within the "ballpark". The normal percautions regarding leaks and floor condition would apply as I don't think that the aluminum composite floors appeared outside of the Minuet 6.0 Metre series.

Good luck with your inspection!

Kevin

59toaster,

One of the things to be aware of. Most axles made and installed pre 74 will need to be replaced. In 74 they changed the composition of the rubber rods so they last a lot longer. If it has newer axles and is usable then it is in the ballpark IMHO.

Well I have heard back from the guy and it's sat for a little over a year.

I had asked if "everything including Reefer, A/C was operational". He says when it was parked it was in working conditon. He was going to check for soft floor anywhere. Said it was solid a year ago but parked and he has not really been in it since. He seems to feel it was in usable condtion. He's going to get me some pictures in the next couple days including a good side shot so I can get some idea if the axles are good and skin condition.

Now where to put trailer #2?

We just bought a 26ft Argosy this year that had been setting for 3 years, paid 3200.00 Canadian which is about 2200.00 us, we are happy with it. I don't think we payed to much but wouldn't have payed any more.
