Wood around black tank is bad

The wood in my 74 Arogsy28 that sorrounds the black tank where the toilet sits is completely rotton. When it came out it was in splintered pieces. Now I need to figure out how to replace those wooden sections. Has anyone done this and have some pictures or wisdom to share?

Also, I couldn't get the flange where the toilet attaches off so I gotta work around that.

Unfortunately, your best bet is to replace the entire floor with one solid piece. We did that last year in our Sovereign. It was no piece of cake, but we are so glad that we did. The previous had tried to piece together a new floor by cutting different sections and fitting them in. The gaps were filled with caulk. It was a real mess.

Also, I couldn't get the flange where the toilet attaches off so I gotta work around that.

I used a large flat head screwdriver and a hammer to unscrew it. Be careful and patient and it will come out. If you want to be safe, fabricate a tool or use two screw drivers at once. JUST DON'T BREAK IT!

This is in an Argosy so the black tank sits on top of the floor and that is the part that needs to be replaced. The toilet for my Argosy is a low profile that sits on top of the tank.

Attached is a pic I found on the web showing how it is suppose to look but I had to remove all of the wood under the toilet between the sink and tub.

As for making a tool to remove the flange I think I can do that maybe with a 4 inch putty knife or something like that.

The floor under the black tank of our 20' Argosy was shot. It's not as hard as you miguht think to repair, just time comsuming. Oh yes... if you aren't good at coming up with combinations of swear words now... you will be!

I had to remove my flange by carefully sawing slots into it, then breaking it into chunks and removing it. Just don't cut too far, or you will cut into the threads of the tank.
