What are the odds?

So, this past weekend, we take our 1977 Argosy out for our maiden voyage to Table Rock State Park, and who's camping in the spot next to us??? Another 1977 Argosy! They've owned theirs for thirty years and it was the first time that they had been parked next to another Argosy; we've had ours for three weeks! What about you guys? Ever park next to another Argy?

I have parkedn next to an Agrosy. But we travel in a Airstream, so I guess it is not an "odity". Just nice neighbors.

Very nice! Theirs is a 26 I guess? I don't think I've seen another Argosy in person (much less camped next door!) since I found ours, but that's only been 3 months so far.

Are they an Airforums member like you too?

I'm going look at a 74 24' this weekend. Any particulars I should look for in an Argosy?

Another Argy

I have not had the luck of another argosy but I do see this guy with the Bambi parked next to me from time to time...... Oh wait, that's my dad....
We do get conversations started as my latest Argosy is almost twice as large as his Bambi.

Do you guys use a rock guard or cover on the front windows?
We are looking to buy or make one for ours.

Actually, mine is a 26', but 26' isn't an option for 1977 in the profile section. They weren't familiar with Airforums, but we had another common interest in canned hams. She was looking at a Scotty and I showed her pictures of our in-progress Shasta.
In looking for at an Argosy, it's like anything else... price and condition. Everything else seems to be just like an airstream except galvanized end caps and no tank level monitors. I'm looking forward to camping next to some more Argosys down the road.

I think that those are extremely long odds. Except at rallies, I've only once ever been parked next to another Airstream - and never an Argosy. A high percentage are still on the road, but just not that many made, ya' know?

We've gotten to park near Janet & Gary and their Minuet at a couple of rallies, but other than that I don't think we've seen another Argosy in the same campground. We have driven by a few, parked in a long term campground or in someone's yard. But, as mentioned previously, there just don't seem to be many of them driving around.

We do, however, park next to an Airstream on almost every camping trip. Our friends bought a 1979 Ambassador last year and are loving it!

But, after your story we have high hopes to meet another Argosy (or two, or three!) out there somewhere. Happy Camping!

2500 mile trip to colorado and back

During the last week on our trip to Colorado, almost everywhere we stayed there was another Airstream in the park. But I didn't run across another argosy on the road in a park or even see one sitting around in a yard or long term storage.

On a side note though... I will say that it is kinda neat to be traveling down the road and have other Airstream owners wave in passing like the folks on motorcycles do, Even if you are pulling and old Argosy.
