Vinyl trim strip
I need the vinyl trim strip around the middle of my 20. I called Inland RV and talked to a lady that wasn't any help. Do they come in any other color but orange? Some of the remaining in mine was black. Does anyone have a part number so if I order from Inland, I can get past first base? I know that the overall size needs to be 1 1/8

Thanks! I tried out of doors mart and they don't have any specs for their trim. I suspect that what they carry is made by CAMCO. I bought a roll and it is too narrow being 1" from edge to edge. It needs to be 1 1/8

The blue Airstream trim in the same 1 1/8" size looks very nice on my Argosy 20'. I find the orange original pretty icky unless you like all original stuff (including the green countertops). Inland or ODM should have it, it is a standard trim part.

The original bely line insert, is 1 inch wide, which is the part you see when inserted into the molding.
It's actually 1 1/8 inch wide when you measure the 2 lips that are on the edges.
Total width 1 1/8"
Visual width when installed 1".
Blue and black is still available, as the orange has been discontinued.

I am not familiar with the vinyl strip your talking about. My Minuet has a metal trim on it. If it's all vinyl, you might try a sign shop. It could probably be easily made up if that' all it is. ffrick

Your photo's clearly shows a metal molding that indeed contains an insert.
However, that metal molding has never been used by Airstream.
Also, inserts did not start until the 1974 models.
Someone added an after market molding on your 1972 Argosy.
Airstream does not have an insert type vinyl that will properly fit your molding.
Sorry.

I'm really confused. This isn't a factory installation? Maybe mine is a 74 disguised as a 72 on the title. Numbers match so what should I use?

OK, I just looked at 6 1972 Argosy 20 trailers and they all have the trim strip around the middle so it's factory, not some add on so what's going on here? Are you torqued off that the young lady I first talked to blew me off and I mentioned it here?!?

The bottom molding confirms that your Argosy is older than a 1974 model.
Also, Airstream would never install a molding as shown in your photos.

Not at all.
We all make mistakes.
But my oldest customer service lady has only been on the job for 4 months.
I have been on the job with Airstream since 1966.
I am trying to help you, but I cannot do so with anything from Airstream that will match what you have.
Post the photo's here on the Forums, and perhaps someone else might be able to help your parts request.

Your absolutely correct.
But the original molding had a wood grained insert, and was of a very different shape.

Here's a photo. So you don't think the black 1 1/8 inch vinyl molding won't fit. How about sending me a 1" sample and if it works, I'm sure others will buy it too. Just PM me for my mailing address. I have a number of other things I plan to order too.
Thanks,
Terry

Any opinions on color? I'm leaning to black as the paint is light green but what do I know!
