Al, Thanks for sharing that old recall. I guess if the camper hasn't had problems in the past 31 years, we don't need to worry! haha

As did another reader, I recently noticed that there was an opening in the floor under the refer, covered by grill.

This clears up why it was put there. Thanks for posting that.

My 75 TW is vented in the floor as well. I guess the guys down the road at the Argosy Plant did not get the memo.

So if I take mine to an airstream dealer, do they still have to honor this?
Jon
I wonder if the laminate floor would void their responsibilty to modify it?

Interesting question......I feel the same way, she made it 31 years, soooo...lol I thought it was interesting. More so to hear that some have the modification!

Vehicle recalls only stay open for a certain amount of time. I would assume that this is also the case for RVs, but you know what happens, when you AssUMe!

Call Jackson Center tomorrow and find out. I would love to be the fly on the wall, when the service person on the other end of the line hears that it's for an Argosy, or for that fact a 31 year old Argosy.

Good luck and let us know what you find out.

The fact is, safety recalls last forever. However, when retro-fit parts are needed to correct a problem, they may not be available.
Remember the furnace recall of the 70's for Suburban furnaces? The recall is still relevant because it deals with a safety issue concerning the furnace. The problem now is, finding a dealer with the repair kit.

True, Kevin, but the recall does not say that it's a safety recall, it says it's a vehicle recall. I had a vehicle recall on my Dodge, but it was only good for three years.

I wonder if the recall was for the Argosy motorhome, travel trailer, or both? I'll have to go out to the '78 Argosy trailer and see if mine has a hole in the floor. (My fridge doesn't work either)

We have a 1979 and I checked our fridge access door and floor below. We also have a 2.5" diameter hole cut in the floor inside the access area with a screen over it. Good to know no gas buildup will be there.
