Talking Update to the 76 Argosy 24 (the White Pearl)

Gaucho Re-upholster -er

Although the original color in the galley is green, we have decided to add a splash of Yellow. With a little luck we may have it in place today!

WOW! That's gonna look great. I redid our Minuet cushions - that side couch was a handful. Have you discovered the trick with a vacum to aid stuffing foam into fabric?

The trick is to wrap the foam in a garbage bag or even cling wrap - tape up the seams with packing tape. Cut a 1 inch slit on the side of plastic nearest to closure of fabric cover, and use a vacuum cleaner hose (in suck mode) to remove air from foam. It gets really small - quick, and you can just slide it right into cover. Cut plastic off and pull out. Works like a charm - but I have to admit it does look a little odd to casual spectators....

Thumbs up Toilet Lid

Is there a resource for replacement parts for the original toilets? I have a broken lid hinge.... Is it worth repair?

I don't know if you have a Thetford, I suspect that you do, I have in the past contacted the company and they were very helpful. Just had a problem, needed a seal, and could not get any help from the company. It looks like now you have to go through a dealer to get parts.
The fabric looks great! Thanks for the vacuum tip.

Angry Leak source

Found the source of my floor wetting problem. Looks like the factory either did not seal the seam or we very stingy with the sealant.

Thanks for the hint, I looked online, found one that looks like it will fit, just have to decide if I want to restore this one or get a new one that has the flush on the top back side.....

Update

For what it's worth, I replaced my original toilet with the Brauva low profile, but I had to remove the door from the cabinet behind the toilet and still can't keep the toilet lid up without holding it up!!

Good to know, I'll steer clear of that one.
I was thinking of an Aqua Magic Low profile. The one on there now is a bit tall and I'm not partial to the foot flush, seems like you put unnecessary stress to the base....

I rebuilt my toilet last year - wanted to stay original - got my parts from Marks RV - great folks to work with and good prices - www.marksrv.com I think is the web site - let me know if that doesn't work and I'll look further. I think all parts are available.

HI we replaced our toilet - the only model we found that would fit without cutting out the "hidden" campartment was a sealand traveler lite. It comes in 2 hieghts (ours was the lower height) and several colors - it's a big improvement. DO a forum search for argosy toilet replacement to find detailed info about toilet swaps.

Yep that's the problem. The lid pivot point is too far back on most of the newer toilets. The Sealand is in the right position, forward of the back of the toilet.
It's a tight fit but I did it so can you.

Checked them out and now I know I can put my original Sealand back in without it leaking - they'll have everything I need. Thanks for the tip! Diane

When we installed the traveller in Vintage Thunder we left the anti siphon cover off the water inlet and cut the underside of the cabinet for it to fit inside of. It can be done, but as Gary said it is a tight fit. I must have set the toilet on the flange at least a dozen times to get it "just right".

I thought that maybe the Aqua Magic V would fit?
balgrn is getting my brand new Aqua Magic IV because it will fit in the standard Argosy but not the Minuet.
I looked at the dimensions of the Aqua Magic V and the set-up for the lid and it looked like it would fit.
How well did the Sealand Traveler Lite fit? Compared to the Aqua Magic III?
