Toby, your antennea was calleds a skyliner, and looked like a big clothes tree. You can replace this with a Winegard batwing antenna, and install it where the skyliner was. The speakers for a stereo should be on either side of the wing windows in the front, near the top of the wiondows. You can also have two speakers in the middle of the coach, just under the ovedrhead storage compartments.

TV & Stereo

Hi Toby
I have a 1973 24' Argosy with production date of Feb1973.
I would be interested in the last four of your serial number and production date.
The original stereo was an 8 track mounted in the front cabinet over the cough. The speakers were mounted on both sides in the panel just aft of the covered windows. Some had mid-trailer speakers, but I had by cieling down and could not find wiring in my trailer.
I now have an am/fm cd mounted in this cabinet and a 15" Sanyo LCD mounted on a swinging bracket. I mounted it on the side of my refredgirator.
This TV and bracket was purchased at Wal-Mart.
The antenna has been replaced by a Batwing and my satilite and cable enters below the frig.
I have the mid-twin model with the frig curbside.
If you would like pictures are more info, private e-mail me at gunnyusmc1964@yahoo.com.

It all depends on how big you want your screen to be... Take a look at my photos and you'll see on the dash a 7" LCD that is a AM/FM stereo, DVD/CD player (you'll need a disc player) and it's also a TV with built in tuner. If you where a motorhome you can even use the backup camera hookup, or if a trailer you can put a mini ccd camera over the front porch and be able to see who's knocking.
The Pyle LCD unit is only $249 delivered!! Check it out at

I also have a 20" LCD panel on the wall of my bus that is an all in wonder that does the main job of being the computer monitor. It's a Scepter and has served me well over the past two years of travel.
