Does anybody have an extra, or know where I can get, a TV antenna (sic) for my Argosy trailer? It is a non-powered version. The gears are stripped, and the antenna part is gone. Also, I think it is leaking water into the trailer. Other than that, it is in pretty good shape...

I recently had one of the Winegard "Batwing" antennas with built-in amplifier installed on my Minuet 6.0 Metre. It is my second such installation as my dealer also installed one on my '64 Overlander a little over two years ago. The one thing that I have been cautioned about regarding these antennas is that one should monitor the roof near where the ends of the "Batwings" are in the lowered position as they have been known to vibrate against the roof skin to the extent that a hole results - - so far with over two years on the Overlander there is no evidence of the problem.
The reception with this setup has been fantastic, and the amplifier definitely earns its keep as it has a tremendous impact on the quality of reception especially in fringe areas. The other feature that I have really appreciated with these two new installations is that the kit included a new 12-volt outlet along with the amplified outlet for the antenna. I have had the opportunity to visit with owners who have the original antennas who tell me that the Batwing on my coach pulls in the channels better in the fringe areas - - I can't attest to this as both of my coaches were missing their antenna masts when they were purchased.
Good luck with your project!

If you plan on replacing the antenna with the Winguard you may want to replace the downlead to the plate as well. This may require the removal of the ninner center section of the ceiling. Airstream bundled the wires and even went so far as to duct tape them together so you may not be able to pull one out and pull the other one in with the same lead.
Just an FYI, before you go pulling the old one off.
