TV Arm for flat panel needed

Anyone know where to get a good flat panel mount for the AS I just got my nation wide high speed internet connection and a satalite system for the AS I need to mount the TV and I will be ready except having a fridge!

We bought the perfect mount for our 22'' flat screen. We mounted it on the doorway between the galley and bedroom. It can swing the TV to be watched in any direction and allows us to easily remove the TV for travel or to place the TV in our bedroom in our home. What is it you ask? I can only tell you that we bought it at Best Buy. I saw the paperwork for it a few days ago as I was organizing files to begin doing our taxes. The moment that I stumble upon it again I will post the info here. Sorry.

I use some of the following sites to purchase mounting brackets for various types of equipment. I have seen some that look like a great way to mount the lcd/plasma tv's to the AS either via celing or wall, or just stationary support for a counter top. Normally you can get exactly what you need (& more) for a lot less than you pay in the stores.

Another great site is Amazon.com . I have purchased hundreds of things from them without an issue. I just order a 19" LCD and an articulating arm mount tonight. If you order an articulating arm (extending bracket) pay attention to the length. Some of the arms only stretch out a few inches. If you have a 19" or larger TV it will not stretch out far enough to go around a corner. The one I just ordered stretches out 17". It should be enough to go around the corner next to the frig so that we can watch on the couch or the bedroom.

Finally got a chance to upload the photos from last weeks project. I love the 19" Sharp Aquos. I like the fact that it comes with 2 remotes. One of the remotes is designed for the kitchen since it has a cooking timer, alarm clock and is magnetic (kind of tough in an aluminum capsule.) The bracket worked out well to view both in the bedroom and from the gaucho. The only thing that I would change is the bolt that holds the TV to the bracket. The bolt is designed to be permanent. I think that I will find a way to change the bolt to something that hand screws more easily. I would like to be able to take it down if the roads are too rough or if I want to watch something outside. As it stands I still would like to bungy the TV before driving anywhere. As you can see the TV has a stand, you can take that off. I like it because it holds the magnetic remote.

I also added a cheapo Walmart DVD player above the refrigerator. I love these DVD players, for $30 bucks I don't mind them breaking. It is nothing fancy but when you push play, it works. My wife goes through a lot of DVD players, I guess because she doesn't turn them off.

newegg.com has a good selection of mounts. I have two peerless mounts for m tv's in my trailer. One of my mounts is bolted to the factory plate and the screwed in the the wall. My other mount is through bolted the closet.

We went to REI, Recreational Equipment Inc. and bought Velcro in 9 foot rolls for things such as this. We used two straps with about 12 inches of overlap hooks vs loops, with the hooks turned out, the soft loops turned towards the TV.

Just mounted our new Vizio 22" last weekend. TV and mount from Costco.

The hold-down straps are attached to chrome handles, all from Home Depot.
Also from Home Depot, I got an aluminum strip 8' long x 2" wide x 1/8" thick. From that I made the piece to "sister" the bedroom side of the wall, and make the backing plate you see mounted behind the TV mount on the kitchen side of the wall.

The handles for the hold down straps are backed up by fender washers on the bedroom side of the wall. This setup keeps the TV fastened securely, allowing no movement when on the road.

Your bracket is very similar to my Sanus. I, however, can easily remove our 22" LG and tuck the flat panel into the bed for travel. The flat panel also doubles as our home bedroom tv. I mounted our bracket as you did but later placed a strap of aluminum bracing on the galley side of the partiction. Even though the tv doesn't travel on the bracket the mount was pulling the ply and door frame out. I suspect since the intial installation a young grandson may have tugged on it. I like your paneling. If it is original it appears to be the same as in our coach. But the PO had sanded and re stained it light oak. It's ok but I would have prefered the original. It looks to be Alder.

This TV bracket also allows easy removal. Just one thumb screw, the power and coax and it lifts off. I didn't want the base attached to the TV when it is on the wall. We will carry the base in the trailer, and if we wish to put the TV in the house, we can easily do so.

I don't remember the make of the arm, The trailer is at our Northern California home as well as the box the arm cam in. I do know that we got it at Costco and it is very nice. Black powder coat, and seems to be extremely strong. All hinges are adjustable for tightness. It wasn't cheap, it was $68.99 with a $10.00 off coupon. The model number on the Costco receipt is 401940 SIMP SMF1B1.

In our 22' Minuet, the wall in the cabinet above the refrig where the mount would go seems sort of flimsy. I would think even if we put some extra bracing on the inside of the cabinet, it would be flimsy to hold up even a 19" TV.
Has anyone tried mounting one from the upper cabinets in that same area over the gauchos? Our Minuet came with the original bracket upholstered in the same fabric as the gauchos that is mounted to the upper cabinet.

To be able to view the 26 inch TV when the slide is retracted we needed to mount the bracket on to the ½ inch plywood wall that backs up to the fridge and it doesn’t have the depth for long screws, or the access to use bolts, washers, and nuts.

The swing arm brackets put a lot of stress on the two or three mounting bolts that hold them to the wall, and they require that they be screwed into framing studs or bolted onto a firm surface such as plywood.

I had no access to the space between the fridge and the plywood wall, so I built a 15” X 18” Cherry wood plaque and used 12 mounting screws to attach it to the plywood wall. This mounting system seems to be stronger than if I used three heavy screws to mount the bracket to a framing stud.

I use Velcro straps threaded through the drawer pull handles and pillows to hold the TV secure during travel. We have a little less than 1000 miles of travel, and all seems to stay secure.

A lot of good solutions have been shared here, and this is one that worked for us.

A change that I might make in the future is to put two handles at the top and bottom of the plaque, to spread the Velcro straps apart.

I just bought a 20 inch Vizio and 180 degree wall mount from Sams Club. I on;y spent a total of $250. It works great and the 180 degree lets me see it in different locations throughout my rig. The wall mount was $50.

We spent a little bit of time looking for TV’s to fit the wall spaces where we wanted TVs.

The bedroom TV is a 22 inch Vizio mounted on a shallow fixed mount, that is bolted through ½ inch plywood that backs up a storage cabinet, and this seems to ride quite well without any extra straps for travel, and we can still walk around it.

The front room TV cannot be turned to be viewed from the bedroom, but it can swivel 90 degrees to be viewed from the kitchen counter.

When we are traveling, our front room TV, when strapped down, puts the mounting arm in a neutral position to have as little stress as possible on the swing arm.

One must keep in mind that if the swing arm is mounted off to the side of where the TV will ride during traveling, the straps need to be quite robust, and Jim foster has a very good looking system for securing the TV during travel. I wish that I had seen Jims system for ideas before I built mine.

The mount I bought from Sam's club can hold any size flat screen (or so the box says). The nice part is that the t.v. just clicks into the bracket. For security and traveling purposes I just unhook the tv for the travel time and put it right back up when I get there. It is super handy and fairly light.
