Tow vehicle wiring question.

Good day y'all. I can't find anything regarding my question by searching the forums (but my wife will tell you that I can't find anything, anywhere, ever).

When I picked the '77 Argosy up a couple of weekends ago we had to disconnect the reverse light wire on the trailer 7-pin. The lights stayed on, even with the key to the tow vehicle in the off position. I can live without backup lights but why? I can troubleshoot this issue my own self but thought that perhaps someone has had the same thing happen. My assumption is that the tow vehicle, which is wired according to GM specs, needs some alteration, but that's just my assumption. Does anyone know if this is common to Argosy, and a simple fix, or do I need to dive in?

Thanks so much.

Sounds like someone was messing with the trailer wiring? The hot wire should be the battery charge wire....

You will need to rewire the Argosy plug to match today's wiring standard. Look on etrailer.com for the correct pin out.

Maybe my eyes are crossed; but it looks to me that the 'indexing' slot on the trailer plug is on the wrong side. IT should be at the top of the dwg.

The slot on the right is for the cover of the trailer plug not the indexing slot on the TV. That is part of the cover and is in fact on the top. It's just not shown.
